Favorite Elseworlds?

For me, Nine Lives tops the list, with Gotham by Gaslight, Holy Terror, Devil's Workshop and Gotham Noir following. Oh and The Doom that Came to Gotham.

(a mod could change the title to 'Favorite Batman Elseworlds?' to keep things simple)

Gotham by Gaslight is my all time favorite Batman Elseworlds story. Gotham Noir is close second.

Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye (I think this was branded as Elseworlds?)

Damn - a lot of books being listed that I really thought were bad:

Thrillkiller (though in the case of that one, I think I'd like it more if I read it now. Chaykin has grown on me)

I think Superman has been better served by Elseworlds/non-cannon stories than Batman (and worst served by in-continuity ones). Batman seemed to get a huge number of ones that felt like they were trotted out for a quick cash grab.

Batman ones I thought were good though are:

Master of the Future
Holy Terror
Citizen Wayne (from one of the Elseworlds annuals IIRC)



Year 100 and The Dark Knight Returns are book great, but there were never actually labelled as Elseworlds.

Red Rain trilogy for me. Its darker than most Batman stories, even the dark ones. That not what makes it great, but I do think its a polarizing aspect of the the story.

Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye (I think this was branded as Elseworlds?)

Now it has been years since I have read this story however to me it just felt pretty flat and boring. The whole plot scheme by Mister Hyde and two Face was also as the often are in crossover stories rather uneventful. The story was more about Batman and Daredevil fighting over who was the biggest dog than anything else. It seam like they would rather have fought more against each other than against the Two Face and Mister Hyde.

I've really enjoyed the first two issues of White Knight. It's a damn good read and it looks great!
