Rest in Peace to Lichelle Marie Laws, Detroit born rapper Bo$$.

Born Gangstaz was one of the first cassette I bought back in, damn, 92,93, with an explicit sticker on it. Yes a gimmick of sorts and this was a fact we knew in real time, still the album production was great for such a dark record.

Ahead of her time, the only other street edged female rapper was Marvelous. I didnt get hip to her until 95.
Lady of Rage didn't release a solo til the mid late 90's and by then all the heat she contributed to from the Chronic had cooled. That and the Death Row collapse.

Only 54, kidney failure. Back then, videos were King and if you didn't do much promo, you could achieve a level of antimony as an artist. I never knew what she looked like beyond the locs until yesterday.
