    Default Most brutal fight scenes

This isn't about the best fight scenes; there's already a thread for that. This is about the fight scenes that made you wince and cover your eyes, the fight scenes that made you actually feel the hits and punches being thrown. The fight scenes that made you look at the winners/losers and wonder "how did they survive that?!"

    Here's one:

That may be the most brutal fight on television ever.

The train scene of From Russia With Love. Not at all graphic by today's standards, and certainly not as elegantly choreographed as some of what we get today, but claustrophobic, vicious, and desperate. IMO, it's deliberate appearance of lack of expert technique is artistically brilliant, really selling the moment's credibility.

Dan Dority versus the captain, in Deadwood. Not flashy but down and dirty and desperate.

If the main criteria is make you wince and not choreography then The Mountain vs Oberyn. The end of that fight made me audibly gasp.

My runner up is the conclusion of the knife fight in Saving Private Ryan. I didn’t post a video because I still can’t bear to watch it.

The big finale fight in "The Quiet Man" was considered the most brutal fight ever filmed at the time (early 1950s). It's nothing by today's standard. It just shows cuts and a little blood although I think it's still one of the most prolonged fight scenes in a movie.

I can remember seeing "Requiem for a Heavyweight" with Anthony Quinn on television where they had realistic swelling of the eyes and puffy faces and, as a child, being both scared and impressed by it because it was so completely beyond what was shown in movies at the time.
    Power with Girl is better.

if we're going with a Punisher fight, I'd go with two from his Netflix series; final fight with Russo and Rawlins.

    Politely disagree.

It's not even the most brutal fight on that show.

First, "Episodic Television" would be a different answer than "Film".

Second, "What is brutal?" comes to mind. While it isn't really a modern "Soak" sort of a confrontation, Jason Vorhees vs. Tommy Jarvis at the close of Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter always comes to mind. It tends to make me a little bit uncomfortable every single time.
