Default Bright: 1st Netflix Blockbuster *spoilers*

Okay so I just finished watching and it’s not a bad movie like some are saying. Reviews are tearing it apart but I found it rather entertaining and watched the whole thing in one sitting. Acting is good, plot is decent for this type of movie, I mean it has fairy’s, elves, and orcs so I didn’t expect it to be complicated. Will Smiths character seemed to be trying to hard to be mean at times and the fairy’s lives matter joke seemed insensitive and uncalled for to me. I got the Training Day/Bad Boys vibes with a twist while watching. All in all I’ve seen way worse so I don’t know where the hate is coming from, it’s really a decent flick and I’m watching the sequel when it comes out. Can’t think of the main Orcs name but shoutout to him, he did a bang up job in that make up.

I posted a very brief "review" in the last movie you watched thread. I'll repeat that here and add some more thoughts I had after letting it sink in for a bit longer.

I was expecting better. The story was very basic and the racial similitudes with the real world very shallow. Notice that I use the word "similitudes" instead of "metaphores". There was nothing metaphoric about it. Subtle metaphores can be interesting, which is definitely not how I'd describe what this movie did with its premise.Visually, it was okay, though it's a bit of a let down that the bad guys owned 99% of all the cool bits.

(I posted that 10 minutes after seeing it.)

One thing that bothers me about it is how little they did with the premise of this "modern fantasy world". Nothing interesting at all. Sure, it was entertaining, and there were hints alluding to more interesting aspects of the world. All of that was indirect, found in dialogue and graffiti. The story itself was predictable and by the numbers. Surely everyone was expecting the Will Smith character to be one of those one in a million humans? Another thing that bothered me was the severe lack of characterization of the vast majority of the cast. The villains were defined by how cool they fought and all we found out about them was that they wanted to bring some infernal bad dude to power. Oh, one of them deserted, who happened to be the sister of the main bad girl. I think she bounced around like a monkey more often than she spoke.

Again, I was entertained, but I found the whole thing a huge waste of potential. I'd rated it 3 stars on the Netflix app.

Finished it and i really liked it. Especially the relationship between Ward and Jakoby. The movie was pretty serious but when it was funny it had me cracking up. Especially the end when Jakoby starts blabbing. I would like a sequel with a slightly better story structure. But overall i really liked it

Just finished watching it. Liked it quite a bit, nice shadowrun style setting and interested in exploring more of the world. Hopefully they will get enough views to greenlight a second movie installment.

Watched it a 2nd time. Man i love the character interactions. Will smith and Joel edgerton have great chemistry. Especialy with the comedic parts

Need a sequel. Edgar ramierez was under used. And we know almost nothing about the Shield of light and how Tica got away. A movie that has me that interested in seeing more is good in my book. The racial undertones werent handled very well but it in no way ruined the movie for me.

Was laughing my ass off at the Training day moment . when Ethan Hawke is almost killed but they find out ue saved the neice earlier that day. Thought they were doing to same thing with the tagger and that made what happened catch me off guard. Cause i was sure Ayer was repeating the training day scenario.

So i saw 3 ppl Ayer brought over from Suicide Squad did i miss any? Deadshot,Diablo, and prison guard.

I watched it last night. It wasn't Oscar-level or anything, but it was very entertaining and certainly very good for a Netflix-made movie I watched for nothing more than my monthly subscription rate. It was good enough that I wouldn't have been disappointed if I watched it at the theater, although I would probably have been more meh about it in that case.

Not only was the writing far better than any theater releaesed movies I've seen recently. It left me already hyped about the potential a sequel would bring. Bright was an example of how basic writing can still be very entertaining. I want to know why the hell Last Jedi being a much larger production could hit all notes that Bright was able to. It's pathetic that this movie was kept me more engaged and had me contemplating so many aspects of fantasy and last Jedi had me side-eyeing for damn near 2 hours.

I think it was very good and a lot of fun but what did they spend the 90 Mill on? The movie looks cheaper than that.

The SFX and make up is amazing for netflix and Will Smiths Salary was probaly up there. But yea the sets are very low budget but they make it feel urban and gritty not cheap.

I noticed a Centaur and chick whos eyes blinked sideways any other creatures anyone else picked up on besides the obvious one?

Fairies, and dragon were sighted. Also Dwarfs were mention.

While three wands are needed to summon the dark lord. And there are three main race in that world.

Does that means there a possibility of a Orcs being a bright?

When did they show the dragons. The fairys are basicaly bugs thats why i didnt include them.

Regardless happy they green lit a sequel. Joel edgerton was acting his ass off under that make up. Im will Smith fan but there was too much Big Willy in this character. Which is still fun and well acted but came off as him just playing himself at times.

Im sure theyre is a orc bright out there somewhere but i highly doubt is Jakoby

During a night time scene where they show the sky above the city, there was a dragon flying. It was kinda of subtle.

I doubt it would be Jakoby, but I wouldn't be surprise if they flip the script this time and have a bright Orcs be on the side of light. While a Elf bright is on the dark side.
