Yes. That and to many crossovers and poor art and poor stories.

During the discussion here about twice-monthly publishing, several folks told me it would create a "logistical nightmare" and would be unworkable. I'm sure they were sincere when they said this, that they really believed it. But of course it's worked out great. They thought it wouldn't work simply because nobody had done it.

The same goes with switching from 50-pound paper to newsprint. The difference this time is that someone actually has done it.

Actually, what many people (myself included, maybe) told you would be a logistical nightmare were your ideas on how to manage the talent to make that happen. Twice monthly was nothing new, Marvel had double shipped for years.

As for newsprint paper, although I have more than a decade in printed media experience, I'm not in the US and have no idea how things are up there. I doubt that that the price could drop from 3.99 to 1.99 by just that, however, and it would create it's own subset of problems. But personally, I'm indifferent.

For me the limit on titles is space to store them

I was buying all of rebirth for the first year

Now I'm down to about 25 titles a month just to keep the volume manageable

Which to compare I get about 5 indies and 3 marvel

??? What? Marvel did bi-weekly comics over twenty years ago. DC did weekly comics over 10 years ago.

Lowering the cost is not going to make me invested or care all of a sudden.
And because of this the mainstream comics industry becomes increasingly stagnant. I go in the reverse direction and take advantage of any price break offered. Avoiding long term legacy A-listers for the most part and discounted or full price try the off beat most of the time. That's just me however.

Price and quality. I was enjoying Green Arrow, Nightwing, and Superman, but due to budget concerns and the realization that these books were good and solid interpretations of the characters but not exactly special or breaking new ground, I decided to axe them. Especially to make room for Metal.

For me it's not price as I used to spend more per month prior to losing my taste for certain characters and trends. I actually spend time looking through Previews each month wishing I could find something that looked even half-way up my ally. I've even sprung for a few trades from publishers that never shipped. So while I agree that a lower price point might be needed to get that first sale, as some one else said you could give the books away for free and if they aren't appealing to readers they'd just clog up the shelves.

I tried getting my nephew into comics. The kid knows that I'd spend whatever he wanted on him especially where comics are concerned. Other than a popular cartoon based book- several years of taking him to the local comic shop on occasion haven't resulted in any new sales for him. Anecdotal, I admit, but at least one example where lowering the cost would have no effect.

    No, it is quality.

The way they tanked the universe with 52 replacing it with stuff right out of the now defunct Wizard Magazine was pretty much it for me.

Quality of story, or specifically my interest in a specific topic/book is what ultimately matters.

You can write one bomb as heck Nightwing book but unless something happens that makes me interested in reading that rendition of the character...I probably won't read it or any Nightwing book no matter the quality.

Like with many readers after a while we only pick up what we're interested in (based on prior experience) and give other books rarely a try.

Like I hadn't really touched a Green Lantern universe book in years outside of the Sinestro book, since I'm a huge fan of Lyssa Drak. So I picked up Hal and the GLC early on specifically because Sienstro and Lyssa were in it following up Sinestro's book. And since I enjoyed it overall, I kept going. I picked up Green Lanterns entirely on a whim since I liked Simon Baz well enough (though not enough to follow him much after his introduction) and though I was disappointed with that Jessica Cruz wasn't Power Ring anymore I gave that a shot too only for me to fall in love with the duo a lot.

To an extent I don't think DC hypes its other books enough in other books to really sell that shared universe. Remember when the new 52 Supergirl #1 had Kara accidentally use her super hearing to reference to ALMOST EVERY OTHER NEW 52 BOOK?!

A ton of surprising stuff have happened in the Bat books over the last few years but unless you were reading them you'd have NO CLUE. I mean I'm a huge Jean Paul Valley fan and I only found out the guy came back a little over a year ago and he's been back for a little over two years or so back then.

I really only pick up those books that seem like they would be interesting to me and those tend to be the ones that stay on my pull unless they end up being duds that I didn't like. I don't waste my time or money on books or characters I don't like period and price has nothing to do with that.
Supporting LION FORGE COMICS and other independent publishers.

Check out Lion Forge's Catalyst Prime Universe. Its the best damned superhero verse in comics. Diverse characters and interesting stories set in a universe where anyone can be a hero. And company that prides itself on representation both in the comics themselves and in the people behind them.

During the Nu52, I had a lot of DC books in my pull list, but since Rebirth I now have none. I don't think it's an issue of price, since all of my other books are $3.99, but I think other publishers (especially other than DC or Marvel) are producing books that I like more.

No, I can't say as I do remember that. I can't even remember New 52 Supergirl #1 even referencing any of the Superman books. What are a few of the books it did reference? I could pick out maybe Batman and Aquaman
and something about a church. But that doesn't seem like a reference to anything specific to any of the New 52 books.

For the vast majority of readers, I would say yes. For me? No, I am able to read what I want to regardless, though I have enough disposable income that it doesn't really matter. However, if I didn't have the money, then things would be like they were when I was a kid.

All the bits Kara heard were lines from the other #1's released. That church bit was from I believe Birds of Prey and it was one of the members of it who said, Starling I believe.
