In just two issues of his Justice League run Priest has brought back a Silver Age staple to The Flash. Science! In the Silver Age, Barry would give us “Flash Facts” as he used science and physics to save the day. Using actual scientific theories was something that made The Flash a bit different from other superheroes. Barry is a science nerd who truly geeks out over getting to put scientific theories to the test while fighting the bad guys. Being connected to the Speed Force allows him to experiment with physics in ways real scientist can only theorize.
I’ve loved how Priest has written Barry in Justice League 34 and 35. He breaks down the task at hand with scientific facts, leaving the other members with a puzzled look on their faces. Or as GL Simon Baz responded “There he goes - Barry zipping up his CSI windbreaker again...Speak English, Amtrak!”
I also loved how Priest had Barry throw in some giant monster movie references and trivia. Barry Allen, the ultimate superhero nerd.
Plus the only time I’ve ever found Kid Flash interesting is when Priest writes him.
