The last couple or so years I think I would have easily topped the 1000 book mark but I haven't really kept close track; so this year I'm going to try to keep track, which means I'll probably fall way short

In general I plan to go with straight issue count except in cases of tpbs where entire issues aren't collected or if the pages are way over 22, then I'll go with actual page counts. Anyway... so far:

Marvel Epic Collection Moon Knight vol. 1: Bad Moon Rising (485 pgs)- 22
Moon Knight vol. 2: Shadows of the Moon (Moon Knight 1st series #'s 5-23)- 19

Spectre: Crimes & Punishments/ Wrath of God TPBs- 22

    Total: 61

    End of January update:

Daredevil by Waid & Samnee Books 4-5 OHCs (21)

    - This was a fantastic run. These two books captured that same spirit of the first three and kept it going. Lots of good humour and gorgeous art that really compliments the writing. I love how DD’s powers are depicted. I feel that the ending was a tad rushed and could’ve done with maybe one or two more issues, but nonetheless, this was a great way to go out. I hope Marvel collects their Black Widow and Captain America runs in this format.

Fantastic Four by Hickman Vols. 1-4 TPBs (19)

    - Good stuff. The first volume was quite good but didn’t hook me, volume 2 lost me a bit but volume 3 was fantastic. Sometimes I think Hickman compresses his stories too much, but vol. 3 was a fantastic example of how compression can work well. So many great moments and crazy, fun plots. It’s a joy reading this after reading some of his Avengers as you can really see all these little easter eggs he’s sprinkled throughout that don’t payoff until Avengers. Volume 4 was a masterpiece: absolute thrill to read and the tension was present throughout. Hickman played with a common narrative type and made it his own. The last two issues of this book are some of the best I’ve ever read. While I feel sometimes Hickman favours plot over character, this book showed that he most definitely can do both. Excited to keep going, will probably finish this run before diving back into Time Runs Out and Secret Wars.

Aquaman New 52 by Johns Vol. 1 TPB (6)

    - This was a breezy, light, fun and action-packed read filled with gorgeous art. The book seems like a perfect fit for Johns. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but there’s still a lot of heart and drama. Ivan Reis’ work is phenomenal.

    Doomsday Clock #3 (1)

    - It’s a shame to hear about all the delays as this book has really started getting good. It’s a slow-burn for sure, but the artwork is fantastic and the characters and their interactions are great to read.

    Action Comics #995-996 (2)

    - Pretty basic superhero-fare, wish this book was a little better considering how close we are to #1000. Booster Gold is a lot of fun, but Jurgens definitely needs to dial down the narration boxes as they’re a bit repetitive for my liking. Decent book.

    Detective Comics #972-973 (2)

    - I’ll probably drop this book soon. The pacing was all over the place and it all seems a bit forced.

    Deathstroke #1-2 + Deathstroke: Rebirth #1 (3)

    - I read the Rebirth special when it came out but it didn’t grab me. After hearing a lot of praise, I went back to it. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The style took some getting used to, but it was good. The 1st issue was fantastic, though. I really liked the story and the art and I’d like to keep reading as I’ve seen glimpses of a lot of future issues and it looks great. I’ll probably grab some of the trades.

    The Vision #1 (1)

    - Phenomenal read. This issue was a backup in Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 and I never got around to reading it. Seeing as the OHC has just dropped, I wanted to sample this first. Wow. I’ve been a big fan of King’s Batman and his other works, so I was expecting big things, but this blew me away. it’s so wonderfully told and it has such a great, quirky sense-of-humour too. Can’t wait to grab the hardcover now.

    Total: 83 books

    update:

Invincible Iron Man by Fraction HC v2 (15) - This series finally won me over. I didn't care for the first HC that much, mostly due to :MILD SPOILERS: the main plot of Tony losing his memory, but along the way Fraction managed to develop some great moments and enjoyable arcs out of this. Maybe one day the rest of this run will get collected in HC...

MMPR HC: Year One (15) - The nostalgia is strong with this one. Really enjoyed this, though the decision to start the story AFTER Tommy has joined the rangers was mildly disappointing (evil Green Ranger was my favorite arc from the show). The main series artist is great (I always worry about this with smaller publishers) and the story has already taken some interesting directions during the first "year". Hopefully Year 2 comes sooner than later

Infinite Vacation HC (5) - Multiversal craziness from Spencer. Cool premise that played out ok

    133 + 35 = 168 for the year

I want to give the Waid DD run a go, but I am not sure if i can justify buying the OHCs. i may finally make use of my MU subscription.

The Hickman FF run is the second FF run I have read, the other being the Waid one from a decade or so back. Loved this series, Hickman does such great complex long form storytelling.

I didn't care for the first HC that much, mostly due to :MILD SPOILERS: the main plot of Tony losing his memory, but along the way Fraction managed to develop some great moments and enjoyable arcs out of this. Maybe one day the rest of this run will get collected in HC...

    133 + 35 = 168 for the year
Never been a fan of Fraction but I did enjoy his Iron Man, though I never got around to finishing off his run. I didn't realise there was a second OHC.

I've read a lot of FF over the years and Hickman's was the best in my opinion with Waid being the second best (just barely).

I liked his Iron Man but his FF was the dregs. There is a second OHC but they never made a third which would have wrapped up the series.
