JSA Omnibus 2-3: (102 issues) Definitely lived up to the hype.
Invincible Compendium 1-3: (147 issues) I'd already read the first two. Found the final compendium to be a disappointment, although it had its moments.
Onslaught TP 6: (5 issues) I've got the first 5 volumes from when I was a child and couldn't get hold of this one. Saw it in my LCS, about as good as I expected!
Superman: Final Days TP: (8 issues) I never read N52 Superman, but saw this was by Tomasi so gave it a go. A fun read.
Abe Sapien 1-2, the drowning: (36 issues approx.) Didn't enjoy it as much as the other Hellboy stuff I've read, still a good read though.
Batman 66 omnibus: (11 issues) Loving it so far, keep finding myself reading the dialogue in the actors' voices!

I had some time off so decided to spend a lot of it reading.

Green Lantern Earth one vol 1: 6 issues: Such a great book, great art, great story abd very well scripted. The pace and structure of the book is prefect. So well balanced. I bought it because of Hardman's work on Invisible Republic but this may even surpass that book. Well worth picking up.

Nailbiter 11-30 +1: 21 issues : Disappointed twice over with this, the fact there is no third Murder edition and that the ending / big reveal was done through exposition and not natural narrative. Overall it was a good, interesting story but could have been great had they not ended it with exposition.

Olympus: 5 issues. Another random Humanoids purchase and another beautiful book. I don't know what it is about the European books, the pacing, the size but I always spend more time enjoying and looking at the art. Over all a very good, interesting and beautifully drawn book.

    Digital books:

Exterminatus: 5 issue. Wanky sci fi, it is what it is and I doubt I'll pick up any more of the series or work by the creators.
Genius Cartel: 5 issues. Nice art, okay story but it wasn't as good as the first book.
Port of Earth, Vol 1: 5 issues. Interesting idea but so badly executed. So boring, it was a slog to get through this.
White suits: 5 issues. Interesting idea but again poorly executed. Even the Hickmanesq art couldn't save this.
Valentine 1 issue: Pretty decent, may pick up the series.
The Homeland Directive: 6 issues. A great book. Well worth picking up. Very well structured, great art, intriguing premise.
Twisted Dark: 9 issues. Another digital purchase I've made, but no idea when or why. But I am glad I did as it was a great find. A very dark at times book, very honest and beautifully constructed. Highly recommended.
Octavia trilogy: 3 issues. Random digital buy way back when. Nice art and an okay story, but not my thing.
Line of Defence: 1 issue. Random buy that may result in me buying the series.
Petrograd: 12 issues. Wow! Again a blind buy years ago. Such an amazing read with beautiful art. A very good book and very interesting subject. I'll be upgrading to the HC on this.

    August update:

    Amazing Spider-Man #1-3 (3)

    - I’m enjoying this series for what it is. I haven’t followed a monthly book in some time besides Doomsday Clock, so I think I’ll keep reading this as my only ongoing series. Ottley’s art is a perfect fit for the character: very expressive but also sets the tone nicely. Spencer seems to have a love of the Spider-Man lore and I love how he references tons of past stories to cement his story as one that respects what has come before, but also what’s to come in the future. A few of the jokes fall a little flat for me, but the writing and art are engaging enough to keep me interested. Some interesting ideas are at play, so I’m excited for more.

Invincible Ultimate Collection Books 4-7 OHCs (51)

    - I’ve been powering through this series and it never gets dull, a true credit to Kirkman’s ability to keep the series fresh and exciting. I like the narrative structure of the series, in that it feels like a regular superhero ongoing that goes from story to story, but it also has a focus on its long-term, overarching plot. Strong characterisations aplenty with basically every character getting a chance to shine. Ottley is amazing in this book. Also, huge props to Plascencia’s colouring who elevates this book to another level. The way he colours blood and the gore-filled scenes in particular is mesmerising. From Kid Omni-Man’s (fantastic name) initial fight with the Mauler twins to Invincible’s battle with Conquest, Ottley and Plascencia are able to create some of the most intense and violent battles I’ve ever read. This book has set a new standard for big superhero brawls that’ll be tough to beat. Each fight really feels like one with consequences. The series greatly balances the fun, whacky concepts with these deep, emotional story beats and it really works. Each story feels better than the last, and I hope that the book keeps this momentum going.

Thanos Wins by Donny Cates TPB (7)

    - This book! Absolutely phenomenal read. Insane storytelling here. The plot is completely bonkers and I love it. So much is crammed in this little book, but it never feels overblown or too crowded. Each character feels distinct and the journey they’re taken on is a joy to read and see unfold. Shaw’s art is dynamic and his work fits the story perfectly. The colours feel vibrant, but grounded at the same time. I really enjoyed Cates’ use of an unconventional narrator, it was unique and added even more charisma and personality to an already fantastic book. This has got to be a favourite for me. It takes full advantage of the comic book medium and succeeds in telling a fun, inventive story that also had a fair share of depth. Very keen to check out more from Cates, particularly Cosmic Ghost Rider when the trade drops.

    245. Amazing Spiderman (vol1) 11
    246. Amazing Spiderman (vol1) 12
    247. Amazing Spiderman (vol1) 13---- I'm sure I've read this before, but I didn't remember it at all. This has been one of my favorites of the Ditko era so far. My favorite scene was Mystero riding in the convertable during his victory parade! His origin shows just how formidable an inventor and stuntman Mystero can be. I hope his rumored appearance in the next movie builds of off this potential.
    248. Amazing Spiderman (vol1) 14

248 down 752 to go! Yikes! I'm up to needing 6 books a day!

My favorite read this month is without a doubt the Miles Morales omni!! I absolutely LOVED this book. Only thing I read from Miles before that was the first 2 trades of his solo run in the 616. With the omni, he became one of my favorite superhero (my fav is Spider-Man Peter Parker).

Other great reads this month: Ms. Marvel, Farmhand, Alex + Ada, ASM, Weapon H, X-23, Terminator Sector War, Bone Parish, Death or Glory. The others were very good too except for She Could Fly that I only think it's ok, liked the 1st issue more, Witchblade was blehh too. Still, liked all that i've read this month except for the two mentionned.

    latest:
    Lumberjanes hc v1 8
It was fun but took me like 3 issues to get into it and I don't think the characters have distinctive personalities. I like the premise and the tone but it could be much better
    All you need is kill10
Loved the movie and loved the book as well. I would highly recommend both to anyone and the 2 in one edition is going for dirt cheap.
    Papergirls dlx v1 10
It's BKV so I've expected it to be good. Took me 2 or 3 issues to really get into it but then I couldn't put it down. This is what Lumberjanes should have been (although it's aimed at a different age range)
    Irmina 12
Really nice (although sometimes uncomfortable) story inspired by real life events. I ussually get angry about recism and xenophobia so sometimes it was a bit hard to read (I wanted a nice read but got constantly annoyed) but I've really enjoyed it.
    Patience 12
It thought the weird art style will put me off but the story is very good so it didn't bother me. It's kind of like the white trash, pedestrian version of Fear Agent (man trying to save his loved one through time travel and willing to sacrifice anything).
    Scene of the crime 5
not the best Brubaker but still very good. I would gladly read more stories with these characters.
    Invincible compendium v2-397
Probably my favourite superhero series. Sad to see it end but I guess Kirkman told everything he wanted to. Balls to the wall action, epic scale, engaging characters and plots, nice and dynamic art styles. Couldn't put the books down.
    Batman rebirth dlx v2 3
gave up after 3 issues. The constant poetic narration and monologues (I don't tire! I am not a joker! I am not a riddle! I am not a madman! I...am....BAAAAANE! All that intersected with parallel flashbacks of him and Bruce both talking to their mother's throughout their trainings....it's just too much! And that was going on for the whole issue) the nonsensical plot (3 main characters are captured off panel and hanged, next issues they are alive...how? then catwoman gets shot in the back...she is fine and captured some bad guys off panel...what?) and it just got me angry. I really just wanted to throw the book away.
    I'm done with this garbage.

    That's: 157
    total: 894

Favourite of the batch: Invincible (but there were some other really good comics there too).

^^ Invincible is one of the best! I still need to get Paper Girls. You pretty much summed up my opinion on King's Batman. I nearly gave up after the very first issue of the series when he was surfing a 747. I loved Vision and Sheriff of Babylon, but what he's been doing on Batman hasn't worked for me at all.

yeah the plane surfing was a warning sign. It reminded me of an earlier issue of Snyder's Batman and I wasn't a fan of that either but I think I dislike King's more. Haven't read Sheriff yet but I was very lukewarm on Omega men but really liked Vision.
