Seeing that she was having trouble fending off the three of them, Midori smiled and decided to take advantage of the woman's distraction. Shooting her tongue out and low, Midori tried to wrap her prehensile tongue around the woman's ankle before swinging her up into the air and down toward the ground.

As Midori did that, Shiro decided to help in keeping Miras distracted from Midori's actions by moving around front and creating three illusion clones of herself, the four firing finger beams and eye lasers at her, trying to force her to block them all by making it impossible to tell the real attacks from the fakes.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

    This was exciting.

To fend off as many as she was proved without a doubt just how skilled Mira was. Charco couldn't quite wrap his head around Jinzi's genius yesterday, but this; this was something he understood. A shame he couldn't let it last long. In between swipes of his claws, green energy began to gather, bit by bit into his palms. Those familiar with the incident that had occurred last time would recognize these gathering orbs as the catalysts of his Tyranno Blast technique.

Making some space between Mira and himself, Charco aimed and fired...

...at the ground. A succession of jade ki orbs smashed into the ground beneath and near Mira's, creating and uneven surface for her to work on as well as kicking up dust and debris to obscure her sight. Even if neither affected her, the action alone should prove to be an amusing distraction and hopefully give some of the others enough of an opening.

Hopefully this works Jack thought to himself as Chou flashed Miras something awful.

Trusting that Chou's technique would do something and leave Miras open, even if just for a moment, Jack rushed in with his Blackjack Bushwack technique to deliver a solid blow to the back of Miras's neck. A quick but powerful punch with a quick, whipping motion just like the weapon it was named after. Or the card game. He could not remember which one it was actually.

It was not the most honorable technique that Manco had ever taught.

But whatever, Jack did not have a sword.

Her focus is incredible, I didn't think she'd be able to maneuver so deftly while entwined with them...

As expected, the officer was quite skilled. She managed to not only defend herself against the Nevadians assault, returning each blow with one in kind, the two of them narrowly avoiding the blows of the other. Her composure under pressure, her ability to so adroitly counter not only the skills of the Nevadian, but the attacks of his comrades was simply breathtaking.

Had he not been in the middle of it, perhaps he would have stopped to marvel at her skills. As things were, it was enough of a chore simply to avoid being cut down by her assault.

As he focused entirely on the back and forth dance of blades between the two of them, he slowly became aware of another weapon, some sort of claws, joining into the fray, doubling the assault on their opponent. The opponent was undeterred, simply picking up her attack with renewed enthusiasm.

Held knew he would be unable to match such vigor. He made no attempt to try.

The Nevadian ceded ground, slightly. Though his senses, he could feel the range of her weapon, along with Charco's, and that of his own. He could sense the flow of ki, the movements of the bodies in this violent encounter, and he could move in unison with them, almost as if he had known what would be done as soon as they did.

Synchronization was a simple matter, before the power of the Shingan.

He allowed Charco to take the lead, maneuvering behind the aggressive man. His claws came at a blistering pace.

After a moments adaptation, the Nevadian followed suit, all manner of spear thrust coming from the various sides of the young man.

When Charco would make an attack that would leave him open, the Nevadians spear would shoot forth, providing a counter before one was needed. When his own attack would reset, the Nevadians would linger, providing a moments defense until his attack began again.

It was in this way, that he sought overwhelm their foe and their defense.

Between Ochazyke hitting the back of her knee and Midori grabbing her ankle, Mira’s goes down with a yelp of surprise. She is now flat on her back, though her barrier springs up in time to block Shiro’s beams. The barrier prevents Midori from lifting her up as well, having severed her tongue’s hold when it appeared, pushing it back away from her before Midori could slam her around.

He remembered after the fall of the ancient snow beasts of Cask, she'd spoken this to Totoma directly, and loudly enough for everybody to hear. He'd summarily dashed a Kiho into a tree, then folded behind a simpering facade of laughter. The would-be hero who'd seized the arms of the yeti mere moments ago caved his will to the words of a stranger.

A puzzling reaction from one who'd seemed so resigned to avoid confrontation; not from the battlefield, where the obstacles were obvious and the task simplistic, but with any deeper consideration outside of the moment. To a Saiyan, Ochazuke supposed breath was the tepid time-keeper between each struggle and conflict, a moment's pause across spans of opportunity to prove their worth.

Rubbish. He'd left such sentiments behind with the old man and the fledglings who swallowed Chahan's every self-serving dogmatic regurgitation. It sickened him to think how even now the training had become part of him, instincts honed to forms and motions.

"One who cannot examine himself to find his answers and surrenders to impulse is not a man but an unthinking animal. Set to the whim of a master, a beast of burden. A tool," he responded, pointedly marking his gaze on the Half-Saiyan, "Are you an animal, Totoma? A monkey on a leash picking at the dirt for morsels?"

Still, he understood. When Totoma blithely figured him for a martial philospher, it was a projection of a naive hope.

"I wouldn't know what to tell you about Saiyans or their paltry culture of fear. But you do not see your mother or your father in the mirror, do you," he said dryly.

He regarded Karine, feeling a moment's intensity, held fast below the graceful pallor restraining her inhuman form. So easily she seemed to fade away, unnoticed.

She told him the night before she'd make it her mission to in a way get to know everybody. Amicable pleasantries. Ochazuke would acquiesce directly.

"Victim. Pariah. Meat. If the labels from others define you, there's nothing left to discuss," he said, "Accept it. Be mindful of it. Preserve what you need and discard what is useless. Then take responsibility and move from it."
He'd... answered. A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. And he'd answered as expected... brutally honest, cutting deeply. That was good. He'd opened up to him--just a little--precisely because the man before him cared nothing for him, his feelings, or... really, anything beyond not being a burden or nuisance to the team, he suspected. He needed to hear a harsh truth, not the sugarcoated version a loved one, such as Karine, would offer.

Supportive stuff like that had its place, but sometimes ya had to tear something down completely and rebuild it.

For a long while, Totoma was silent, his arms crossed and his gaze wandering to and fro. Try as he might, he couldn't quite formulate a response. Not now, at least.

Finally, he broke his silence: "Thank you. You've given me food for thought, but... like any food, it will have to digest a bit before it can offer any nourishment."

In other words, he wanted to think on it for a while. Get some other opinions. Karine, definitely, but perhaps some of the others.

"You may think my quick turnaround is weird, and... it is. I think it's because I realized, after I said that, that I'd been doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results," said Totoma. "Insanity."

It stung. He'd essentially just wasted a year. Or more, if one considered that his problems started during his first trip to Vacado. His mother must have known what would happen, so why had she taken him there?

    Another thing to think about.

The main Miras puts her hands up and blocks Totoma's kick downward. Her wrist turns, grabs his ankle, and then slams him bodily into the ground twice before tosses him away.
Being slammed into the ground so damn hard twice in succession knocked the wind out of him. By the time his head stopped spinning, he was already mid-flight after being tossed. He couldn't fly anymore, so righting himself... ah.

He shot some sticky threads at the ground, which were then pulled taught as he reached the limits of their length. He let go, then fired another set, doing the same thing. Quickly, he managed to slow his momentum and right himself, eventually landing on his feet, facing Mira.

    "Alright, you..."

    Wait, close his eyes?

Without a second thought, he closed his eyes just as that Chou guy yelled "Flash!". Probably a blinding technique.

He opens them to see her on her back. Without a second thought, he thrust out both hands, releasing a kiho from each at her barrier.

With her barrier up, she is protected from the various jabs and attacks as Charco fires his blast. Her shield holds, and she slowly gets to her feet, eyes narrowed behind her barrier.

The golden, rune-inscribed spear being matched well by the woman's blade. As the two continued to spar, the Oni's blade took it's final shape. The blade she had lost on the battlefield, given by a friend .. a lover. It would not last long, she knew; her shot would need to matter. So hanging back a moment more, the woman appraised the situation, to see what the others were managing and wait for her opening.

She had been blinded, pinned, and was currently on the flat of her back.

Ishtar reacted in an instant. Her mind reaching out to all those around the woman with a simple warning, "Behind you."

Muscles bunching in her legs to prepare for the move, the Oni exploded forward cratering the ground underneath her. Her goal was simple, sever the arm that held the blade.

Yet time deemed it not to be.

Before the Oni could close the distance, the woman regained her feet. Her barrier protecting against the Dino School's disciple, yet also allowing Ishtar another to close the distance. Her goal now, however, changed somewhat.

the Ki amplified blade's tip angled for the small of her back, the Oni would impact the woman from behind; and with hope she would succeed in shattering the woman's defenses.

Those sensing the arena will notice, behind her barrier, that Miras’ fingers are twitching ever so slightly.

    She’s planning something.
