"No barrier will save you."

Those were Koorimaru's thoughts once the mages were in his line of sight.

From within the confine of their barrier, reality rippled and a line of red emerged slicing through one of their numbers. But as its trajectory continued, it's trail seemed to stop as it crawled into yet another shimmer in reality.

From another direction, the Death Beam continued its journey slicing, into another victim, before disappearing and reappearing elsewhere to do the same to another.

Soon, trapped within their own protection, the lone Death Beam Koorimaru unleashed began to fill the entire area.

The other five with the leader die, but every time it gets close to him, the beam seems to curl away.

The mage leader makes a quick gesture and a spiraling disc of energy appears and engulfs Sarada, portaling her away.

She reappears inside a burning building many blocks away, standing amidst a fire.

The fear wave was considerable, but Jack was used to fear. What is more he knew how to use. Fear was a tool to help you survive. Jack intended to do just that.

Barriers block attacks physical or energy....

But if they can see through the barrier.

Jack began to pull his energy behind his eyes, and at the last second drops from the sky to stand in front of the six sinister sorcercers.

"Snake Eyes" he roars as a burst of blinding light explodes from his eyes.

The barrier flares and brightens under Meagan and Erosa’s assault, but holds. The leader creates another spiral of power and portals Erosa away too, sending her about 10000 feet into the air above them, falling.

Looking up, Meagan then flies fast upward to catch Erosa as she plummets to earth.

So, you have some means to keep yourself defended, aye? Unfortunately for you, you've already showed your hand.

It was then that the combination of his Void Tunnels and his Death Beam adopted a different strategy. A single line of red slammed into the orb that was the source of the cult leader's strength. Then, as it continued past, it shimmered and appeared elsewhere once again slamming into the orb.

Where Koorimaru's strategy had once been to fill the barrier with energy, he now used it focus the strength of his Death Beam entirely on the orb.

As the waves of dread hit the Oni, seeking to drown her in a fearful tide, Ishtar continued to force her body to move, for in the end, illusion or not; it was not for this one to tell her how to feel or think ... or be. And while the setting was familiar, the feeling that began to bubble to the surface in the mind of the golden-eyed Oni was defiance.

Lip curling in a snarl, Ishtar added her weight to the assault on the barrier, and slammed her left fist against the magic that served to separate her from the orb holding cultist.

"Arcane symbol....Reflection. As long as the shield holds it will block for us.....mobile cover." Etrina answered, holding the shield at the ready. "Lets move...Our friends need help."

"Hey, Etrina. Thank you for the save."

He took a deep breath, and, from sheer adrenaline, he grabbed her hand. "You're right, let's go!"

And with that, they ran around the corner, to the thick of the action, towards their friends deep in the fire.

The previous evening, Meagan trained with Charco to learn a new technique. Now was as good a time as any to try it out. Cuping her hands to her right shoulder, body slightly twisted, she began quietly chanting something. As she did, a massive sphere of Ki started to gather in her hands. Then with a loud, "HA!" she pushed her hands forward and blasts the barrier around the grey robes.

Seeing Megan's assault, Zaofan, still some distance away, charged his eyes to maximum power. MEGA OPTIC BLAST!

His massive crimson energy stream slammed into the field, parallel to Megan's own attack. Zaofan maintained the blast but started walking closer and closer.

The five do, but the main one stands firm. The ground reverts after a few seconds under his power.

"Bah!" Sasheem grumbled, slamming his fist upon the ground. Who would return perfectly good pudding back into shitty old ground. These mages were monaters, but if there was still a chance...

Sasheem swamunderneath the ground, before resurfacing near the mages, raising his arms as if preparing for a strike but instead leaning in and whispering, "Psst...break?" He subtly pointed to his toilet, complete with the accompanying sound effect.

"Me...help?" Sasheem offered. A gamble, but...who knew if it work.

Looking up, Meagan then flies fast upward to catch Erosa as she plummets to earth.

Far above, Meagan saw a twinkle at first......that brought bright as she rose and it fell. A trail of fire fell behind Erosa like wings of cinder, curled behind her as she accelerated instead of slowed, down towards the ground below. As she shot by Meagan, a single thought passed to her. Rage....and a warning to get clear. That same message passed to everyone present.

Like a meteor, she flew down, the sound barrier left broken behind her, as she fell upon the mages barrier.

"Tha....na....tos...."

Irritation was growing as his own bloodlust rose. The others had quickly dispatched a majority of the robed figures, yet it appeared to be one hiding beneath his barrier.

Unfortunately for that one, Charco knew a thing or two about barriers.

Yo, I'm gonna see if I can make a dent in that shield... He said mentally to the others, Just giving you all a heads up. Feel free to join in...

Green energy burst to life in his hands, growing in size until they were roughly the size of basketballs. Rearing those hands back, he began to focus his energy forth.

"TY... RAN...NO..."

Thrusting his arms forth, the two orbs of ki collided and and shot forth towards the mage in his dome.

"BLAST!!!"

As was in the case during the training session with Jinzi, the blast began to wrap around the sides and back of the leader's barrier until it was fully encased. Once complete, the energy erupted into an explosion.

After using his technique Jack realizes he is in the Grand Central station of ki blasts.

Not again!

In response he flies directly into the ground burrowing into it with small focused blasts and good old fashioned digging.

"Oh come on! Again?!" Sarada exclaimed as she watched Erosa hurtle down toward the mage's barrier like a meteor and Charco fire his Tyranno Blast. At the same time.

There was no way that was going to end well. Well, at least this scenario wasn't real but those guys at the epicenter were in for a world of pain.

"Add it to the list....I plan for you to owe me a lot by the end of this..." Etrina joked, semi seriously, and let herself get dragged behind with her shield at the ready.

Now in range of the mages, Etrina let out an audible gasp as their clothes and mean of attack finally clicked together in her head. ".....Mages....Grey Mages.....My word, we're incredibly fortunate we haven't faced worse then we have. The leader is holding a focusing iris, a spell enhancer with channeling properties....he could summon in reinforcements if left to his own devices, and I don't mean cannon fodder. We have to take him out."

Just then, a mental signal hit her and she lifted her view to the sky. "......oh dear......perhaps you'd want to get behidn that shield again...."

A couple of things happen.

The orb shatters and obliterates the mage. As this happens, Erosa comes from on high and Charco blasts. However, the barrier shatters and a massive wave of force and pressure and dread slams out in all directions like a wind, throwing Charco and Erosa back before they could land their attacks. It was almost like an invisible hand threw them backwards despite their attacks.

Stepping from the dust is a nightmarish shadow thing, vaughly humanoid, about ten feet tall. Dread washes off it in waves and there is a hum of some invisible power surrounding it.
