You're kidding me....I didn't start this path until I was a bit younger, but it's still surprising to see someone this young on a battlefield like this...Then again, Jinzi did say some of the raiders joined out of some sort of blood feud.

"WG?" Held was momentarily confused by the term through at him, practically dripping with hatred. Was it some sort of Nevadian slur? His people were not exactly common on this planet, certainly not enough that many people would have bothered to go through the trouble of--

"Oh! Right, World Government." Held mumbled to himself, managing to better make sense of the situation. The Raiders seemed to have assumed this was Government work, which made as much sense as anything else. The Dragonball was likely way above his pay grade, after all.

Had the youth been in better condition, perhaps he would have been able to fire his weapon with enough speed to surprise the Nevadian, getting off a shot before he managed to gather his wits about him, perhaps even hitting him.

With that mangled arm, however, racked with enough pain to cause the youth to flinch, however....Even a moments pause could lead to ones undoing on the battlefield.

The Nevadian jumped to the side, shifting his weight to avoid the shot, and Ki flowed through the shaft of his spear as he prepared his counter attack. The rear end of the spear shot towards the enemies attack, intent on meeting in and ricocheting it into his partner, the sniper.

The gunman was perhaps the easier target of the two. Young, angry, injured. He posed the least amount of threat, at the moment. Perhaps the easiest of the two to interrogate, once his partner, the sniper, was rendered unconscious.
Shouting bloody murder, the young soldier lets his broken left arm hang mangled at his side, pulling his rifle stock flush to his side as he shoots a volley of repulsor fire at Held. His sniper counterpart loads the grenade and aims, but as Held reflects the repulsor pulse one hits him square in the chest before he can pull the trigger. He falls backward, and in his dying spasm the grenade is shot straight upward.

"Bravo Team is down!" The soldier yells to the chaotic air of gunshots, torn stone and burning metal around him. "I'm closing in on him! I'll take him out!"

As he looked at Held, his visage paled despite the push of adrenaline that dragged his heavy steps forward. The Nevadian would know that the young man was shaken, for he saw before him the shape of his death. Discipline clashed with instinct as pulled his gauntlet over his rifle and dragged heavy boots forward as he moved screaming towards it.

The blow struck true, and with a clattering the invisible entity was separated from is Warhammer.

Steam rising from Ishtar's skin, the Oni simply grunted before launching herself- fists at the ready- towards the pile the invisible foe has been launched to, the dust and debris clinging to it for the moment revealing its outline.

    OT: Stage 2, four posts.

One moment Asha'rah was gazing down upon their imminent victory, and the next she found herself being propelled face-first into the dirt. Considering how utterly unprepared she had been for the blow, and the obvious weight of the weapon she was being assailed with, it had not caused her body overly severe distress. Indeed, Kevi's claws had done far more when they ripped through Asha'rah's exterior plating like butter. It wasn't that she could take such blows indefinitely - each hammer blow imprinted a dent upon her body and would eventually find something important if left unchecked. But considering her overwhelmingly disadvantageous position, Asha'rah somehow had a moment to consider the situation.

An invisible opponent had attacked her from behind, distracting her attention and doubtless Ishtar's as well. That he had not acted before this suggested he wasn't really suited to front-line combat. Yet he wielded a warhammer, an eminently unsubtle weapon, and had targeted Asha'rah despite Ishtar posing the more imminent threat to his ally. Such behavior suggested a grudge. It was the Red Namekian. As Asha'rah began to push herself from the ground, Ishtar flew in and delivered a mighty blow that sent their foe flying into the rubble. So great was the impact that the Red Namekian lost his grip on his weapon, which clattered uselessly upon the ground.

The first thing Asha'rah did was to check on Kevi. Sure enough, she was gone again. The witch remained the true threat in combat, but they could hardly afford to let an invisible foe run amok on Avalon. While Asha'rah would have preferred her situation with respect to Ishtar reversed, this would work too.

"Ishtar, ripping his head from his shoulders should prove effective. If he guards it...checking his body for Dragon Balls may trigger trauma. I will hunt down Kevi."

The witch had been attempting to cast a spell before. Asha'rah did not intend to afford her the time to do it now. She reached out with her ki senses, searching the witch out. A soft blow suffused her body, her aura having recovered enough to patch new plating over manually repaired systems. It would suffice for now.

The traumatic mental stress quickly demoralized Zaofan. Parsic put up a sound argument -- why fight in the face of such hopeless despair? But a good chef should know the value of turning down instant gratification.

Zaofan dashed backwards, avoiding the hands. But they came together with such speed and force that they created a thunderclap, blowing Zaofan away. The shockwave hit his meaningless mortal shell like any other punch. He landed hard on his back, the momentum throwing his legs up and over, ending up with his chest on the ground but still sliding back. "...I can... I can't... I can't..."

The hapless chef tried to pull himself together, but even that was a chore. "None of it ... none of it makes sense... what I saw... what's in you... it's nonsense... your metal hands... turn to stretchy pans..."

    "WHAT ARE YOU?!"

His eyes glowed again. He tried to summon his ki. He fired as best he could. "Opti--optic--OPtik... Blasssst..." . And yet, when he fired, the beam fired straight but kept flickering in and out of existence, like a light bulb on its last legs. No matter how hard Zaofan tried to concentrate, he couldn't solidify the beam. Years ago, when Zaofan was a haughty, arrogant young man, he thought he could master the Crane School's Kikoho years before he was ready, by harnessing the mental and physical conditioning of the Hokuto Shin Ken school's Tenryū Kokyū Hō technique. The result was disastrous and nearly killed Zaofan, but the failed experiment resulted in the Optic Blast that would be fueled and controlled by mental discipline and determination. But questioning the nature of one's limited, corporeal form and its overall inconsequential insignificance in the grand mechanics of the fundamental cosmos took its toll on even the simplest of attacks.

Unfortunately, Parsic's mere existence threatened that discipline and determination -- even the pure physical power of the Optic Blast would falter if there was no spirit, no cheer, no hope to utilize it. His trademark ability all but useless. Things looked grim, but still -- Zaofan could not shake off the strongest desire to get closer to her. Fleeing would be an option -- if he could imagine it.

With the optic blast currently useless, Zaofan ran a mad dash at her, disappearing in mid run thanks to the Zanzoken, and reappeared in the air, behind Parsic. With a right fist pulled back, Zaofan aimed his mightiest punch for the back of her head.
Parsics arms twisted backwards and caught Zaofans arm moments before his fist hit the back of her skull, her body contorted in a way it shouldn't have. "Your making this difficult you know."

She kicked off the ground, flipping over Zaofans head with his arm still held firmly in an Iron grip and landed behind him while twisting it into a painful position. "There is nothing to fear from me Zaofan. You'll have to accept me sooner or later....I'm at the end of every road. Waiting...." He felt a warm finger trace down the side of her face, followed by something gripping hsi shoulder hard as the thing behind him swifter her weight and flung Zaofan in an arc and straight up. With the strength behind the throw he cleared the treeline easily.

    ---

Some distance away, Erosa spotted a poor sod getting flung into the air in the same general direction as Zaofans scent was being blown from. Guess he was beating some poor idiot half to death.....in any event, she was almost there...

The Nevadian would know that the young man was shaken, for he saw before him the shape of his death. Discipline clashed with instinct as pulled his gauntlet over his rifle and dragged heavy boots forward as he moved screaming towards it.
Held looked on as the man--youth or not, his actions were those of a man, a warrior no less--charged towards him. He charged valiantly. Heroically, even. Vainly. He had saw the skills possessed by Held, dispatching his combat partner not even a moment ago, and still charged forth, half dead, and half terrified. It was said that true courage is when one suprasses ones fear to do what one felt one must do, and in that regard, the young man was certainly full of courage.

Held felt himself smirk slightly, before suppressing it, maintaining the stoic visage with which he engaged the enemy.

I'll give Willia this much, she certainly lights a flame in whatever she comes in contact with....I've not seen a single one of these soldiers tuck tail and run.. Hell, if the world wasn't at stake, I'd probably have had us retreat once this proved hotter than expected.

"Do you really think opposing us is worth your life?" Held asked, his voice raised to not be outdone by the chaos of war, "Or are you the type who charges in to die without ever really knowing why?"

His spear slung over his shoulder, the Nevadian examined the Solider. It would be far too difficult to reason with him, Held surmised. The lad was essentially walking to his death out of sheer balls and duty, it was unlikely that simply offering to spare his life would accomplish much of anything, perhaps other than arousing anger and shame.

It would be more fruitful to lightly prod at the surface, coaxing him into giving information that he perhaps would not realize he was giving up.

"At the end of the day, I'm going to walk through that door and take your treasure....You can barely stand, let alone fight. You'll put up as much resistance as that vault will, as you are."

He glanced away slightly, feigning pity, or perhaps even disgust at the Soliders valiant acts.

"Get away from here. Go home, maybe become a family man down the line."

It was unlikely that a foot soldier had the clearance that he required to infiltrate the vault, although at the very least, he might provide him an inkling of information as to who to look for.

The Red Namekian is stunned, but Kevi launches herself anew at Asha’rah, only to be frozen in place as Kai and Eva suddenly step out of the room. Both move in synch, eyes glowing with white fire as their combined TK keep Kevi heldin mid-air. In a dual voice, they both speak and tell Asha’rah and Ishtar to finish this.

Ishtar does not even hesitate before she descends upon the Red Namekian, the pain from her previous injuries taking the back seat to the rising anger that guided her now. Words at the Oni's back however, stall the assault momentarily, and after planting a kick that slams the faintly visible opponent into the closest wall, Ishtar turns:

Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran
