Default Animaniacs Reboot: Are these characters going to work in today’s market?

This show had pretty bitting political commentary in a kid’s show.

I’m not sure Hello Nurse as a character works in today’s environment. (Constantly sexually harassed office worker just doesn’t seem funny anymore.)

Children’s cartoons seem to be more geared towards Teen Titans Go style humor these days.

I just trying to figure out who the audience for these characters are going to be.

There are still "mature" cartoons out there like Steven Universe that aren't all out "adult oriented" like Archer, Robot Chicken so sure, it can work.

And there's so much material for the Animaniacs to mine for parody right now, from Disney's shameless monopoly to WB's lol handling of the DC brand. To our political affairs to even Hollywood's nurturing of predators being upended. Bring back Yakko, Wakko and Dot!

The original showrunner wasnt asked back because it's only animation and as long as everything looks the same people will assume everything is the same. They are also leaving out...

    Slappy Squirrel
    Katie Kaboom
    Rita and Runt
    Good Idea/Bad Idea
    Minerva Mink
    Chicken Boo
    Buttons and Mindy
Colin...the kid who tells convoluted stories and runs away.
    Good feathers

It's for the best because the strength of the show wasn't the variety of the characters you would see.

Well, I'm regretting not having Hulu right now.

The Black Light joke had me in stitches, hah.

The fact that they worked in "mansplainy" leaves me to believe that this reboot really is in good hands, though. Lest we forget all those Clinton jokes from the 90s, like showing Hilary doing all the actual work while Bill was goofing off.

Anyway, I feel good about this, in a warm fuzzy kind of way, especially with how shitty 2020's been. My only gripe is that this seems to be more of a revival (the old cast coming back and continuing where the old show left off -- the previous teaser trailer even showed a "cel" of their 90s character models), but they keep calling it a reboot (where everything starts from scratch except for the basic premise).

For me it was a little bit of a slog starting through because the show asks you to empathize with shallow, wealthy Hollywood types. But very soon the show asks the viewer to do so much more, and it's much more reflective than first impressions go. It's almost like a therapy session for the viewer, only with much better, much more clever wordplay than most therapists can ever do.

Eh, out of all of them I'm okay with leaving out the Good Feathers, simply because the premise and the skits were all dependent on movies released 30 years ago by now. Kids back then knew who Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro were back then even if most parents wouldn't dare show their kids the Godfather, Goodfellas, and Casino; if Italian mob movies were still big and commonplace today, the Good Feathers would probably be more relevant.

Somebody on twitter pointed out a pretty big difference between the Warners and the other WB Looney Tunes style characters: the Warners are the aggressors. The 90s was a lot more tolerant of people who don't mind their own business than people are today

How can they leave out Katie Kaboom? That character is the embodiment of how people act in social media.
