    Default Worst Film/TV Fan Theories

Fan theories are fun... except when they make no sense, have the flimsiest of evidence to them, blatantly ignores the clear evidences against them, etc etc. What are these bad fan theories you have heard? Mine are

    1. Harry Potter series: That Neville is the chosen one, not Harry.

I hate this one. For a pretty simple reason. It originates from the book and... well, I'll just post a passage:

“Then — it might not be me?” said Harry.
“I am afraid,” said Dumbledore slowly, looking as though every word cost him a great effort, “that there is no doubt that it is you.
“But you said — Neville was born at the end of July too — and his mum and dad —”
“You are forgetting the next part of the prophecy, the final identifying feature of the boy who could vanquish Voldemort. . . . Voldemort himself would ‘mark him as his equal.’ And so he did, Harry. He chose you, not Neville. He gave you the scar that has proved both blessing and curse.”

    2. The "It's all in his/her head! Nothing is real!"

This is just plain lazy. So lazy that you could apply it to pretty much every fiction ever written or filmed.

I usually don't waste brain space trying to remember any of the dumb ones I sometimes I hear about....only one I can remember from a long time ago and it is ridiculous and stupid:

Ferris Bueller's Day Off: The entire film takes place in Cameron's head. Ferris is merely a character that Cameron makes up in his head to help him cope with his depressive personality.
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

I have seen a LOT of dumb TV and Film theories over the years, many I have pushed out of my brain ha. Recent ones include all the fan theories and rage regarding the Last Jedi. One that pops up recently is for a the Nicktoon Rugrats where the theory goes the entire show is made in in Angelica's head and the real life stuff is really dark and depressing like Tommy being a still born etc. But other recent ones like The Walking Dead being all in Rick's head and stuff like that needs to stop.

The its all in theyre head one bugs me. Buffy/Smallville/Breaking Bad/Walking Dead are just some off the top of my head. Though smallville had an episode where a wraith messed with clarks head and made him think he was just crazy and J'onn has to go in and help him. I actually really liked that episode but the idea that at the end Clark just retreats back into delusion is dumb.

Harry Potter had quite a few absurd fan theories. Some have been debunked as the whole story (the seven books and eight films) is complete. Neville being the chosen one at least sounds a bit sensible. But what about Professor Dumbledore being Ron Weasley of the future? He's tall. And knows about time travel. After all he's a time traveler himself. I think it did not gain much traction as its so absurd to begin with.

    James Bond is a codename.
Sean Connery is so different from Roger Moore because James Bond is not his real name. Rather they are different people who take on a codename. James Bond. It is cool but makes no sense when the films show that its not the case. They are all somehow the same person.

Before Batman v Superman was released but trailers were available there was this fan theory/rumor so insane that it was genius. It said that BvS and Dark Knight trilogy occur in the same universe and Ben Affleck playing Bruce Wayne is a misdirection. Rather he's playing Slade Wilson/ Deathstroke who has become Batman after Bruce Wayne retired at the end of Dark Knight Rises. That 'v' in Batman v Superman actually means part 5. Dark Knight Rises is part 3. Man of Steel Part 4. And BvS is part 5. I am posting that link. (Mind you its a long article which i enjoyed reading back then).

And of course another one which became quite popular is Jared Leto is playing Jason Todd who has turned into Joker.

Decades ago I saw an actual published book on where the real-world location of Middle-Earth is.

They actually did an it is all in the head of a autistic child for the series finale of the long running TV series St. Elsewhere. It was a hospital TV series that ran for 6 seasons on NBC and starred people like Ed Begley jr.,
Howie Mandell, Denzel Washington. And in the end it was just a hospital in a snow globe the autistic child was playing with and his father, one of the leading doctors, was just a laborer. So it's all in their head isn't without precedence.

That could be fun in a movie and work real well but a tv show you have put years into, to end by saying " yea none of that was real, We Got you!" Would piss me off.

It majorly pissed off fans of the show. There was a huge outcry at the time and this was before Facebook and Twitter. At one time it was billed at the worst series finale ever, but I think the
How I Met Your Mother series finale has taken that spot.

Yea a twist like that is fine if done well in a film. But Tv shows have too much time invested in them to just throw it all out with a twist. Like Clark/Buffy being delusional or Rick Grimes/Whiler white dreaming it all.

Iono Lost got alot of shit for theyre Finale too.

I also remember there being a theory that Trueblood took place in Sookies head. That she created a fake world fulk of Suoernaturals in her head after her uncle molested her

How I Met Your Mother was rough. It made me really not care about the show anymore. I really did enjoy most of the show, but I haven't really had too much interest in going back after that finale.

Lost did get a ton of backlash, but a good amount of it was because people did understand the ending even though they literally tell you what is going on and many did not get it.
