CBR presents some stories "Fantastic Four" star Kate Mara could read to get to better know her superhero alter ego.

What a hopelessly optimistic article. I think its pretty obvious by everything we've heard that this "film" is nothing more than a cynical cash grab by Fox to hold on to the rights to the "Fantastic Four." Its not based on the source material in any way, as evidenced by yesterday's article. It is an example of Hollywood greed at its worst. The idea that they could make essentially Chronicle 2, throw the FF name on it and expect fans to flock to it is condescending to comics as a medium and speaks to their unspoken belief that comic fans will come to any comic book movie as long as the name is there.

I agree with every word of this.

So now that it's being reported what she actually meant, is everybody ready to start apologizing and admit it's stupid to treat something translated with Google as gospel?

At what point was there a retraction printed as to "what she actually meant?" There wasn't. Katie Mara said what she said and meant what she meant. The quote "...because the plot won't be based on any history of anything already published" says it all. CBR isn't saying anything has been retracted or corrected.

Even if they were doing a hard adaptaiton of 616 Fantastic Four I don't think she would need to read the comics.

Are Fantastic four #1-10 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby really recommended reading for Invisible Woman? They pretty much portrayed her as little more than a ditzy damsel in distress.

For the time they actually did very well. Sue was never shown as a coward, just sensitive and a true woman of the times.

I think that this is the type of woman generally accepted as the norm around the era that Sue was created.

There was also the run after Reed was presumed killed by Doom which ran for at least a year and a half in which she took over as leader of the team. Memorable in that she challenged Reed's manipulative father and Namor (and perhaps less so for the cut-out 4 of her costume). She was steely, decisive and very much her own person. A very heroic turn for the character.

Well it's not her you need to convince. She said she was going to read some but Trank told her not to.

    So blame Trank.

Wow, CBR, your bias is showing. I don't recall you publishing an article offering a list of comics for Zoe Saldana after James Gunn told his actors they didn't need to read any comics
