New 52's Captain Al Pratt (introduced in Earth 2 #)
other (please specify who/when in a separate post; no "Captain Atom" or "Atom Smasher", etc.)
Ray Palmer in JLA 195, but I soon discovered and loved Al Pratt in All Star Squadron.

Floating in a teensy chair above the JLA's meeting table in a cave. Awesome!
By the way, there is an old Appreciation Thread for Ray:which was revived again this month.

* Golden Age Al Pratt = 4 votes (no change)
* Ryan Choi (from 2006) = 2 votes (no change)

The new Ray Palmer appreciation thread is:The Atom (Ray Palmer) Appreciation 2019
https://community.cbr.com/showthread...reciation-2019
Quick update:* Ray Palmer (Silver Age Atom) = 39 votes (+ 3)
* Golden Age Al Pratt = 4 votes (no change)
* Ryan Choi (from 2006) = 2 votes (no change)
* New52's Captain Al Pratt (in Earth 2) = 1 vote (no change)
Ray Palmer
Silver Age Ray Palmer is the first, Pratt the second. I like both a lot, but Al wins out for me. Classic Earth 2 is something I have always loved.
Now we're at:* Ray Palmer (Silver Age Atom) = 49 votes (+10)
* Golden Age Al Pratt = 4 votes (no change)
* Ryan Choi (from 2006) = 2 votes (no change)
* New52's Captain Al Pratt (in Earth 2) = 1 vote (no change)
Wonder if Golden Age Al Pratt will start getting more votes since he was (briefly) in Doomsday Clock #10
and it looks like he may show up (at least from the cover image) when the 1940s JSA will be part of Justice League next month.
Loved that Sword of the Atom arc/mini/whatever it was, back in the day. It always felt strangely appropriate that he was so under-appreciated.
My favorite Al Pratt appearance was in a story where a valkyrie attempts to assassinate the US President for Nazi Germany (comics!), and Al jumps in the way and blocks the energy blast from her spear. He rises up from this not-as-deadly-as-it-seemed blow and says, "Nah, Mr. President, don't you know? You can't split an atom!" which was hilarious in it's irony, since, by that time, the President would have known otherwise (even if it was reasonable that Al would believe that)...
New 52 Ray Palmer with the rather clunky Astronaut outfit where Superman asked his help to investigate what's going on inside Batman's body in Batman/Superman
Ray Palmer in Jurgen’s Teen Titans, a book and a team highly underrated.
