Who was the first "Atom" (no rank/no adjective) you ever read in DC comic books?

Oh, and my answer is Ray Palmer. My firsts this way are pretty much always from the Silver Age, but soon after it was the Golden Age versions, which my 6 or 7 year-old self was so thrilled to learn as much as I could about.

As long as I’m correcting anything at all, I’ll once again register a personal ‘complaint’ since more get this character’s name wrong more often, including the very same folks in the very same threads even after I’ve quoted them the actual name, even when I’ve done it twice or more, always in a friendly manner. Elongated Man’s last name is Dibny, not Dibney. He’s a favorite to me so this rather constant error sort of drives me up a wall.

I never correct grammar or spelling or whatever because I don’t think those things matter, especially in an informal setting, but since OP often corrects posts in various ways, I’m breaking my unofficial ‘policy’. “The” is not an adjective, it’s an article. I hope they’ll take this in the good spirit it’s intended. ;

The "no rank/no adjective" was for things like "Captain Atom" or if there were any colors or similar before the name "Atom".
"The" was not being considered.

But it's too late to do anything about that at this point. Changing the poll would wipe out all the previous votes, and so when I'm reporting the numbers I'm reflecting what the poll says.

If it bothers you that much, then ignore the thread or ask an administrator if they can correct the name on the poll without changing the vote count.
