I think it was a list of examples here in a thread that shows 3 years is the average for marriages that aren't Luke & Jessica (unless they are divorced by now)

The list of what Marvel would rather do to characters than have them just divorce is pretty terrifying. Deals with the devil, murdered by zombies, brainwashed by the government into killing their family (tho that got handwaved off screen, thank goodness), and so on.

They were "just" engaged, never married. Kitty's flighty, apparently.

I love it. This is exactly what the X-books and the Marvel universe, as a whole, needs right now. So many iconic couples and romances have either been deconstructed or destroyed outright. For a while, Kitty/Colossus was one of those romances that Marvel went out of their way to disrupt. Them getting married feels like a welcome, but overdue reversal. The Kitty/Colossus relationship has always been prominent with the X-men, even if it doesn't elevate to the same level as Cyclops/Jean or Rogue/Gambit. But I think it always had the potential to be special. It just never got a chance to realize any of that potential. This wedding will be a big step in that direction and I hope Marvel puts some genuine effort into making it work.
