I just don't like the aesthetic. It's silly.

I'm confused, is this a new permanent look or just for the cover? If it's for the cover I don't mind it so much.

The article suggests that it is a ew look designed by Lee for Superman to wear from here on out. The Rebirth style cuffs on the arms suggest that as well.

Why the cuffs though? The sleeveless Reborn costume was much better IMO.

Because they have to incorporate something from the bad movies to the comics. Maybe to make their movieverse feel like less of a failure and that its actually contributed anything? I dunno.

I never really cared for the trunks. I'm not sure if they had any real meaning for the character. if they do can someone tell me? So maybe batman will be next then

Definitely. They're going full revert. I'll see when more details of the post-#1000 direction start to seep out, but its looking more and more like this will be my last hurrah with the books until/if we ever get different options.

It'll be sad, but I guess not the worst way to go out, move on, and bookend a collection.

I'm fine with the current costume, but I still think the classic look has better balance, so I'm happy to see it. The current suit has that goofy, impractical belt that is clearly a stand-in for the trunks, so it was basically just swapping one type of silly (trunks) for another.

The addition of the cuffs is silly as well. Bet it won't last long. But Jim Lee is determined to put his mark on the look, isn't he?

Wait this is for real? For real..real? I will believe it when i see them in Action Comics #1001. Till then its more like a cover. One can not truly honor Superman's history, which #1000 is supposed to be without showing trunks in some manner. If nothing only a cover. You may say all modern stuff and everything but if you celebrate history you have to acknowledge the trunks. Its what Superman had for decades from the beginning.

But man it feels so right.

Well at least the trunks and belt are back. And if they are basically going full Pre Flashpoint, I can't say I'll mind that much. I never felt like the New 52 stories were the right way for Superman to go.

I hope since this is a anniversary issue, we will at least see the new 52 costume appear in one of the stories since it is apart of the history and even the history of the current version of the character.
