    Default The new SHIELD

So SHIELD fell (again) in Secret Empire and no one really has done anything to much with this, or even really acknowledge it that I can recall, besides Matthew Rosenberg's Secret Warriors and Punisher series so maybe a new SHIELD is brought up but no more flying air death fortresses, no this SHIELD is more alongside that of the Illuminate where it is made of a representative from the different spy groups who then form these black ops teams of their respected Marvel corners, but most of all it is secret.
So a stealth team for Avengers, X-men, Inhumans (and no "they aren't superheroes" cause neither are these books they are black ops/intelligence teams and many nations of the the world have those), the Mystical/Supernatural side, and as for Cosmic and Street level would GotG and Defenders count as these or should new ones be formed.

So thoughts on this idea, does anyone have ideas what one or more of these books would be called, do you have any team members you would like to see part of these teams, what about writers do you feel there is someone who would do a good job on one.

Here's an idea. Replace Marcus Johnson with Ultimate Nick Fury. I don't even need an explanation. Let it be Bendis' last act. He's never given a crap about continuity.

I think that Ultimate Nick Fury killed and replaced Marcus Johnsn long ago and nobody know it.

The fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. is acknowledged in some of the Spider-Man books, and is even a major plot point in Miles Morales's book with the new Iron Spider assembling his own Sinister Six specifically to steal a Helicarrier, one of the members being a super-criminal who was released by the courts after legal reexamination of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s "heavy-handed tactics" with containing superhuman criminals and terrorists. In Amazing Spider-Man, Mockingbird is pretty much out of work without S.H.I.E.L.D. and yesterday's issue spoilers:
has the Carnage symbiote broken out of what used to be S.H.I.E.L.D. containment and delivered to Norman Osborn.
end of spoilers In Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man, a rogue division of S.H.I.E.L.D. called the Gray (or Grey) Blade is still active and targeting Peter's "sister" Teresa over her blood containing the data they've accrued on superheroes and super-villains over the years for the purpose of controlling and/or killing them.

That being said, I do like your idea for the new S.H.I.E.L.D. being a closer-to-Earth collection of secret operatives within the superhuman community, and I could see Cable being part of it, along with Miles Morales, who if Cable was telling the truth to Miles's father does have a future in --- or more accurately, is the future of --- superhuman espionage. I also like the idea of one of the Scarlet Spiders being involved, as Kaine was never comfortable thinking of himself as a superhero and is willing to kill if necessary and Ben Reilly might have usable intel on powerful or influential figures from his time as the Jackal "resurrecting" those people's loved ones in exchange for their support and loyalty. Outside Cable, Miles, or the Scarlet Spider(s), there's Domino, there's Psylocke, there's Gambit, there's Black Widow, there's Bucky Barnes (the former Winter Soldier), there's Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew and/or Julia Carpenter), there's Songbird, there's even the Black Cat --- mainly characters with backgrounds in espionage and/or assassination or experience on the dark side that I could see working for or with this new S.H.I.E.L.D. As for who the writer would be, while we could stick with Matthew Rosenberg, I think Ed Brisson might do a good job as well, or maybe we could get Ed Brubaker or Chris Yost to come back to Marvel for this, hypothetically speaking.
The spider is always on the hunt.

As many times as SHIELD has been taken over or destroyed at this point kind of just makes them toxic. It have been so badly used the last 15 years that it just needs a rest. It seems like everytime it has been used this century they either come off as boderline nazis or bumbling buffoons.

Put the property on the shelf for a good 5 years and then maybe bring it back.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with Nick Jr. at this point. His recent mini-series was spot on and gave him some real character development that he was missing. People were complaining that he was basically an Ultimate rip at one point; because that’s what people where pretty much asking for. I loved Junior before the last Fury mini, and love the character moreso now.

If there was a time to have brought Ultimate Fury over, it would have been during Secret War, just like how they did Miles, Jimmy-Wolverine, the Maker and whatnot.

I bet by the time we get a new Shield in comics, things would have occurred across the Comic-scape that Shield was quietly being rebuilt. It’ll mirror the movieverse by the time it returns to an degree with Nick Jr. being upgraded from Agent to Colonel or Commander, from actions he underwent while Shield was displaced. He’ll bring Maria Hill bs i in the fold because of her knowledge. Since he and Cheese/Colsen are best friends, he’ll be brought in on the loop. We’ll get a hybrid old-school comic Shield mixed with movie/tv elements.
