I would ship this hard cause they have the opposite attraction that could work well for them. I even think about if they had a male child what kind of mutant power would he have.

Some sort of gemstone form that 'absorbs' the traits of those reflected in his polished surface? (Sort of echoing both his mothers telepathic traits, and his fathers power absorbing traits.) Basically like a version of Rogue that can draw upon the power of anyone within visual range, instead of having to touch them.

But that falls back on the trope of black characters that 'steal their powers from someone else' like Bishop, Prodigy and Synch... Ugh. I got nuthin.'

Ooh, like a real diamond is created through extreme heat and pressure, he turns to black diamond as he is hit by stuff, and gets stronger to match this new form, so by attacking him, you're just powering him up (but he's not actually 'taking' anybody else's powers)! Cool.
