I haven't seen enough yet, but I'm expecting The Shape of Water, Blade Runner 2049, and maybe Get Out, and maybe Dunkirk to take my top spots. Want to see Hostiles too...that may have a good shot. Baby Driver. I'm way behind. I watch too many movies from the 70s to mid 90s.

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Can I just say I really enjoyed 'Mother!'? Apart from two scenes in it that crossed a line for me. I think the Razzie noms for it are not deserved.

Other than that one (it wasn't my absolute fav, but it was up there), there were a lot of movies I saw that were 2016-releases/productions. So I'll get back on this later.

    Atomic Blonde
    IT
    Wonder Woman
    Guardians Of The Galaxy 2
    Logan

Worst (that I have personally watched): Alien: Covenant

Atomic Blonde is an honorable mention.

Yup Alien Convenent was my least.

Last Jedi for me was disappointing but not bad.

    My least:
    Alien Convenant.
    Rough Night.
    Cult of Chucky.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (ala welcome to the Bungle is more like it).
    Justice League.
    Snatched.
    Killing Gunther.
    Leatherface.
    A Bad Mom's Christmas.
    The Mummy,
    Baywatch.
    CHIPS.
    Beauty and the Beast.
    Fist Fight.
    Split.
    Battle of the Sexes.

This was actually a really great year for movies. Probably the best in recent memory.

    1. Get Out
    2. The Shape of Water
    3. Logan
    4. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri
    5. The Big Sick

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention Blade Runner 2049 as an honorable mention. But I think it suffers from similar problems to the original where the Production Design, Sound Mixing, and Cinematography elevate an imperfect story. The ideas it presents are interesting, but I'm more in love with all the aspects of the film with the story and the characters coming in at a distant second.

I also really dug Guardians Vol. 2. I thought it was a surprisingly and deceptively small scale movie for a Marvel sequel. It put Age of Ultron to shame in terms of fun team dynamics that I expect from a superhero movie, but probably had one of the strongest emotional cores of any standard superhero flair.

Lady Bird was also really good. It wasn't ground breaking, so it landed just outside my top five and it's not really naturally my type of movie, but it was absolutely perfect for what it was.

    1. John Wick, Chapter 2
    2. Get Out (watched it in 2018, though)
    3. Wonder Woman
    4. Baby Driver
    5. War for the Planet of the Apes

I really liked War for the Planet of the Apes initially, but I am trying to think about how it left me and it left me feeling kind of hollow. I think I need to watch it again.

Wasn't feeling Alien Covenant and Kong: Skull Island. Star Wars: The Last Jedi was eh. Haven't gotten to see Logan but will soon.

I don't really do lists. And I didn't see a lot of movies.

    So in no particular order.

    Get Out
Your Name (I didn't see it until 2017)
    Coco
    Logan
    Wonder Woman
    Thor Ragnarok
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
    The Big Sick
    Baby Driver
    Lego Batman

I saw a few others, but this seems fine.

    Not much of a surprise.

    They've been snubbing him.

Just Wonder Woman for me. I liked Justice League well enough, but wasn't really what I would call a favorite.
