I think if things happened the way he planned, Scott would have developed better. The Maddie issues wouldn’t have happened, the X-Factor wouldn’t have happened and eventually Scott would have come back with a new and fresh team during the outback phase.

I was just watching something with an interview with Claremont and some quotes. It had some interesting tidbits.

In Claremont canon, Rachel has no father, as hinted at in Excalibur when gene anomalies are found in her. She was to be the child of Jean and the Phoenix Force.

Also in Claremont canon, Nightcrawler's parents are Destiny and Mystique and he said Azazel was one of the dumbest characters ever created.
