Default Cover Contest 1/31-2/618:Time Tunnel- Welcome to February xxx8...

So it's the last day of January 2018, and this contest ends in February, so our theme this week is to take the time tunnel and post your favorite cover with a February cover date from a year ending in 8 (1938, 1948, 1958, 1968, 1978, 1988, 1998, 2008 or 2018). Try to list the cover date/year for reference if you think of it.

You can use the newsstand function at Mike's Amazing World of Comics to browse by cover date

    http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mik.../newsstand.php

my entry, cover dated February 1978 and one of my favorite comics when I was a wee lad of 9 that year...

The Rules for those who need them:
Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins.
Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to tally votes.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules don't argue it in the thread - simply don't vote for it.
More importantly, remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

The winner gets to start the next contest. To avoid repeats, he, she or they can check previous themes here:

I's looking behind us now, to history back. . .
Kirby creates a team brought together by an accident while flying, February, 1958.

I have a second choice I really like too, I'll post it after the contest if no one else does.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

One of my all-time favorite covers by the legendary George Perez! (Feb 1998)

Three scenarios for who becomes Spider-Man:

Flash - Killed by the Vulture (events of Amazing Spider-Man #2)
Betty - Quits after Uncle Ben's death (events of Amazing Fantasy #15)
John J. - Killed saving the space capsule (events of Amazing Spider-Man #1)

In the end of all three scenarios, Peter Parker ends up becoming Spider-Man.

    February 1998, collected volume:

"I should describe my known nature as tripartite, my interests consisting of three parallel and disassociated groups; a) love of the strange and the fantastic, b) love of abstract truth and scientific logic, c) love of the ancient and the permanent. Sundry combinations of these strains will probably account for my...odd tastes, and eccentricities."

Remember back when you were in college, and Superman was always trying to kill Lois Lane, and... What, you don't? Then refresh your memory with some space-age Superdickery, courtesy of Neal Adams dated Feb 1968:
