Is Batman or Detective the better ongoing series currently?

Which Batman title has been better in your opinion?

For me Detective has been way more fun of a read, love the entire team storytelling.

I prefer Batman personally.

Im really enjoying the current stories there, and while I do still really like TEC the current arks havent been my favourite. I think im not liking it as much just now cause im not such a Tim fan.

I prefer Batman over 'Tec as well. I dropped 'Tec three issues in and nothing I've heard about it since then has made me decide that was a wrong decision.

I prefer Detective since it's been far more consistent and I have fewer problems with it. And I like its cast more.

Batman hands down, and I am a huge Tim Drake fan.

Tec by a huge margin. Tynion doesn't hit the highs of King, but he's very, very consistent, and I've liked the art for Tec much better than Batman (though recently, with Batman getting Joelle Jones and Tec hitting a ton of fill-ins, that's been about even). I'm also a Batfamily fan first and foremost, so Tec is pretty much exactly my book. That being said, I do enjoy Batman - I love the BatCat romance, and King is able to hit some very good emotional points. But it's so inconsistent - I really get the feeling that King just isn't great at indefinite, really short-production-deadline books.

Batman but to be fair I dropped 'Tec months ago. I was never a fan of Tynion's writing and the cast can't make up for it.

I don't buy either series these days (don't enjoy either writer), but I stuck with Detective Comics longer than I could tolerate King's Batman.

Both are pretty disappointing but Batman is the more palatable. In fact Batman recently got really enjoyable but the Wonder Woman arc set it back got me thinking I might not want to support this

I read the first trade of Detective, and wasn't blown away by anything. I'm not a fan of most of the cast anyway, and I actively disliked what was done with Jacob Kane. Nothing that came after looks like it will change my mind.

Batman by far, King’s examination of Bruce’s persona, his search for happiness and other topics really appeal to me and I find them to be really well handled. Tec is more regular mainstream comic, that isn’t a bad thing at all, but could be handled better. Still, I spend a great time reading Tec and Tynion knows how to keep me hooked despite a few problems that I might have with the serie

I'll give the arguably non-answer and say that it varies month to month, story-arc to story-arc.

Rise of the Batmen was more interesting than I Am Gotham. Then I Am Suicide was better than Victim Syndicate - but that said, I Am Suicide had strange pacing that reads far, far, far better as a whole and was kind of strange bi-weekly. I Am Bane was cool - giving Bane his "Arkham Gauntlet" moment in a fun reversal of his original "Release all of Batman's villains Gauntlet" scheme, but I think League of Shadows was stronger. King's "Rooftops" stuff was just ungodly stellar and was better that month than whatever might've been happening in Detective. The Button was a sort of separate affair, so it's hard to compare. War of Jokes and Riddles was underwhelming - it had good moments but was still underwhelming, and it went on long enough that Intelligence was the better story. Utopia was an okay follow-up to what was going on (and lead-up to Fall of the Batmen) but the post-engagement Rules of Engagement and Super-Friends stories are stronger, and are even way stronger than Lonely Place of Living and the current Fall of the Batmen stuff. And I find Fall of the Batmen pretty strong, it's just that Rules of Engagement and Super-Friends are that good.

So for me they've very much been trading places in as far as what's better. So to get to the crux of the specifics of the thread title; "CURRENTLY", the Super-Friends arc has been stronger than "Fall of the Batmen" - however the very, very current bit with Wonder Woman, the jury is still very much out on, while the Clayface Annual and the Syndicate plot in that storyline are more intriguing to me. Plus we know Batman is supposed to marry Catwoman in Batman # 50, so we know you know, he's not going to cheat on her with Wonder Woman in any kind of "when he gets back into continuity/timeline/real-time" matters.

Personal preference is tough, too. I'm so keen on stories about Batman and Catwoman being partners. But the other book, you know, has cousin-intrigue with Kate, has Steph and Cass, has Tim Drake, has Luke Fox. I'm more ambivalent about Jean-Paul to be sure, in spite of some solid stories. And the stuff with The Colony has been pretty cool conceptually and executionally.

It's a real tough one! I think I might like them equally.
