Honestly I think one of the weirdest things here is the description of Mutant Genesis, since when has that been a maligned enough book that you have to justify it being on a top 10 list with some weird back-handed compliment?

I completely disagree with this list. Some of them like "X-Men Season One", "Lifedeath 1 & 2" and "Uncanny #205" wouldn't even make my list.

I think it boils down to when you started reading comics...

For an "old timer" like me... it's mostly all old stories that I appreciate the most.

1. Uncanny X-Men #120 & 121 - This is when I began collecting. So this holds a special place with me. It was also cool to see the team fight for Wolverine.
2. Uncanny X-Men #135-137 - The Dark Phoenix Saga
3. Uncanny X-Men #132-135 - The Hellfire Club Battle that leads to Dark Phoenix.
4. Giant Size X-Men #1, Uncanny X-Men #94-95 - Always loved Native American characters, and this time we see even heroes die. (Sure I read UXM #137 first, but Jean had done some questionable stuff, like destroy a planet). Proudstar was innocent.
5. Uncanny X-Men - Days of Future Past (UXM 141-143, I think?)
6. Uncanny X-Men #145-147 - The X-Men fighting Doom and Arcade
7. Uncanny X-Men #154-155, 161-168 - The Brood Saga
8. X-Men #1-12 with (what started with Clairemont and Lee)
9. X-Factor (Volume 1) #1-12, while I hate resurrections of Jean, this was the first. Who knew it would be the doorway to about a million more. -sigh-
10. New Mutants (Volume 1) #1-15 ... though I rank it #10, really it floats everywhere between 2 and 10. I love the stories and characters so much.
