Just looking at this gif, how are ANY of these names trademarkable to begin with? Hell, "Jean Grey" might be the most distinctive of the bunch, since it's sort of a quaint, old-timey sounding name that you wouldn't expect anyone to have in 2018.

Trademark and copyright aren't the same thing. That's how marvel can have the trademark mark for captain marvel, but D.C. can still have a character named captain marvel, but they can't use the name as the title to a comic.

I was referring to the point that how could any of those names, like storm and beast, be 'trademarked'. I assumed they meant because those are common words.
