    Default Top Five Legacy Heroes

I’m not sure how many of you listen to podcasts, but Comic Geek Speak is a great one! They recently did a episode where they ranked their top five legacy heroes, so I thought it would be fun to do the same.

Here is how they defined “legacy hero”
Any hero who's ever succeeded to, filled in for, been inspired/influenced by, or stolen from another character is fair game!

    My list:
    1. Jack Knight- Starman
    2. Wally West- The Flash
    3. Ray Palmer- The Atom (taking the name from Golden Age Al Pratt)
    4. Courtney Whitmore- Stargirl
    5. Dick Grayson-Batman

Alternates: Connor Hawke- Green Arrow, Rick Tyler -Hourman, Jesse Quick, Kyle Rayner

What would your list look like?

Dick Grayson needs to be on this list, even if his appearances as Batman have been few and far between.

That’s a great pick! You know......I may actually put him in my list, because I loved Morrison’s run with Dick as Bats.

Why not Mr. Terrific Michael Holt?
"We live in a world of cowards. We live in a world full of small minds who are afraid. We are ruled by those who refuse to risk anything of their own. Who guard their over bloated paucities of power with money. With false reasoning. With measured hesitance. With prideful, recalcitrant inaction. With hateful invective. With weapons. F@#K these selfish fools and their prevailing world order." Tony Stark

I've been really enjoying Comics Geek Speak. This episode is particularly fun. Really gave me an appreciation for the Wally/Kyle/Connor legacy era of the DCU that Jack Knight really epitomized.

I think including Ray Palmer/ Al Pratt is a real stretch...do they have anything in common apart from the "Atom" name??

I'd suugest replacing Ray with Kate Spencer...the 2006 Marc Andreyko Manhunter series did make a serious play on incorporating Kate into earlier Manhunter stories.

Holt is a great character and my favorite Mr. Terrific, just not in my personal top five.

Look at their criteria of how they defined legacy though. In the podcast a few of them mentioned silver age characters because most of them were continuing a golden age legacy......even if it only included using a name.

You are more than welcome to include Kate Spencer in your list

It was probably one of my favorite episodes. The 90’s gets some crap, but that’s when i was growing up and getting into comics. There were so many beloved and wonderful characters during those years.

Barry Allen is top! Especially as he kicked off the silver age, and begun 'legacy.'

Cool thread. Most of my favorite heroes are legacy heroes so it's kinda hard for me to choose. Most of these are pretty close.

    1. Wally West (shocker I know)
    2. Kyle Rayner
    3. Supergirl Linda Danvers
    4. Tim Drake
    5. Conner Hawke

Man if they made a team with these guys I would be in heaven .
