In addition, I also much prefer Cassandra to be Jean's nemesis. After all she definitely has a personal axe to grind as Jean was the one that foiled her plans last time.

Not much more can be said about how great this issue was, other than the fact that it's bringing some fun debate and excitement back to the board. I can't remember the last issue that had discussions like this about the characters, their choices and their actions as opposed to just general complaints about how out of character or horrid the plot is.
This doesn't make sense. Cassandra is very obviously a Xavier nemesis moreso than anyone else's. Also, she'd have an even bigger axe to grind with Emma than Jean, I'd say. Emma is the one that trapped her in the Imperial Guardsman, Stuff. Unless somebody on the team has some kind of power that neutralizes psi powers, or has tech abilities that can neutralize psi-powers, or have enormous psychic defenses that Nova can't break through, Cassandra is not a threat this team can handle by itself. They would need somebody like Emma to work together with Jean to try and beat Nova or maybe Xavier swoops in and save the day by himself. Jean is nowhere near strong enough a psi character to take on Nova alone without some serious PIS being used to weaken Cassandra. On the other hand, without another psi like Xavier or Emma lending a hand, it would be interesting to see how this team overcomes the villain. They would have to trick her or something and ambush her before she can attack their minds to take her down.

I'm almost tempted to pick up this story arc only for Cassandra Nova, but I'm likely not.

I think Cassandra is going to get her ass kicked by Jean in order to establish Jean's power level sans Phoenix. Cassandra making note of Jean being not the Phoenix was too obvious of a giveaway imo.

Jean was assertive in her declarations, whereas Kitty sounded a little "pleading", I guess. Jean also got her ducks in a row with recruiting Namor & Wakanda.

A more subtle difference was Kitty's insistence in that it was a human rights argument, not a mutant one. She said not to paint them as "other". Jean seems to be saying it IS a mutant rights issue and we are "other" and that needs to be dealt with. For a (admittedly flawed) analogy, Kitty is in the "color blind" camp of racism and Jean is in the "racially cognizant" camp.
I think that analogy works. I think Jean would LIKE to have Kitty's solution be a viable one, but is past that. She realizes that equality is never going to be given to mutants (and if one group bestows equality on another, that is an inherently non-equal relationship anyway) so she is ready to take instead of asking. The colorblind vs cognizant comparison is a really good one.

These people prefer to go to Israel, where the f*ckers of Hizbollah are firing missiles over their heads every odd day, before staying in their born countries.

I don’t like politics in my comics. However, I like history, and many times I have seen mutants as a metaphor for Jewish people. Not only for them, of course, but I think they were part of the inspiration. Utopia, then, could be seen as a metaphor for Israel. I don’t want to offend anyone, but sometimes I suspect that the reason Marvel didn’t allow Utopia to be successful was because some of the more fanatic PC and SJW people hate Israel, and Marvel is now full of them. Extreme right and extreme left have common opinions in many subjects, and sadly anti-semithism (however you want to disguise it) is one of them.

Of course, these are only my opinions. Everyone have a good day!
This is 100% true. Marxist socialists and alt-right neo-Nazis are two peas in a hateful pod. And if the UN is condemning mutants, it’s a direct (though probably unintentional) parallel. The UN is filled with many terrible countries that treat their people horribly and we’re forced to pretend we’re all on the same side. It’s a farce. I wish comics would stop portraying them as something remotely respectable. That said, I still don’t like the whole idea of mutants seeking their own nation. It’s not like they have a historical homeland that ties them together or it’s generational through religious tradition. And it’s more of an old fashioned Magneto/Malcolm X approach than an Xavier/MLK approach as well. X-Men should always go with the Xavier/MLK approach.

So yeah, I disliked this issue. I already severely disliked everything Taylor did with X-23, so I’m not really surprised. Rosenberg should’ve gotten X-Men Red. I also hate Cassandra Nova and a majority of the stuff that came out of Morrison’s run, so yeah. Not a fan of this.

I've been looking forward to this issue since it was announced. Jean Grey's long absence from the X-books has definitely been felt. I think this issue does plenty to show that. It really hits the ground running, demonstrating why Jean is the heart of the X-men, more so than any other character. Her heart, her compassion, and her grace is just uncanny, if that's not too loaded a word. The way she goes about assembling her team, crafting a vision, and pursuing it is just plain refreshing. You can't help but root for her. There aren't a lot of characters who can pull that off, let alone one who has been dead for 14 years.

However long it was, it's great to have her back. I'm so glad to see her in action again with the X-Books. I look forward to seeing more from this series.

I really, really, enjoyed this first issue. It was great to see Jean take a look at the state mutants live in since she died and take action. I like how she has taken a different direction than Cyclops did during Utopia. The two different approaches fit each characters personality and strengths in my opinion.

From reading other posts in this thread it seems as if some readers don't enjoy the different direction Jean has taken on mutant rights from Kitty Gold. I'm hoping this becomes a plot point later on between the two books. Jean and Kitty each have valid arguments for why their idea should be pursued. And it would be fun to see Nightcrawler have to take a side since he is on both teams.
About the only thing I didn't enjoy was the UK ambassador's head exploding at the end. Thought it was a little predictable that the character would die.

Kittys enemies aren’t that stupid. They would see there isn’t a nation to deport anyone to. Some may even read a newspaper or on their IPad.

    NIGHTCRAWLER WAS RIGHT!

In more ways than one, apparently. Jean & Kurt bonding, was the most moving scene for me, and probably my favorite development overall. Long felt they were kindred spirits, and have always wanted it to materialize, and be eXplored.

And why would Kitty's political enemies care if there isn't anywhere to deport the mutants to? They just want the mutants out of America.

This was a VERY good start. Seriously more happened story wise in this one issue than almost the whole Phoenix Resurrection arc. Jean was confident, powerful, commanding it was a real reason given for her team's mission and direction. There was a new worldwide direction being examined for mutant kind. A genuine surprise cliffhanger, return of a big villain and setup for the rest of the series. Just excellent.

Why would Jean consult Emma? She's currently hanging out with Ms. Sinister and Bastion. It's counterproductive.
