Default Cover Contest 02/07/2018-02/13/2018 – “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”.

This week’s theme: "He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother"

The Rules for those who need them:
Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins.
Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to tally votes.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules don't argue it in the thread - simply don't vote for it.
More importantly, remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

The winner gets to start the next contest. To avoid repeats, he, she or they can check previous themes here: http://community.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?22656-Cover-Contest-Weekly-Winners

This is my submission: the cover to Daredevil: Dark Nights #1. The start of a 3-issue story: “Angels Unaware”, written and drawn by Lee Weeks. One of my favourite artists drawing my favourite superhero in my favourite Daredevil story (feel free to vote for it )

    May the best cover win.
    Raffi

Hi Raffi, great theme. Just a quick question.... it can just be someone carrying someone else and it doesn't have to be a brother I assume. Dumb question but I had to ask

I have the same question, so it's not dumb. Or we both are
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

    Absolutely. Totally okay question.

So yes, sister, mother, brother, dog, son.....I just love the song and the words - the theme of love and sacrifice for someone/thing. It can refer to anyone.

    Hope that helps

So, even if it's not a family member as long as it's someone being carried by another that qualifies? I know, I know, repeats IM's question just need one more point of clarification.

Exactly. Even moreso. That's the whole point of the song i.e. you're sacrificing yourself for someone so much due to your love and care that someone would think it's for your physical brother or sister. The song is about carrying someone and even though he may very well be heavy, she/he isn't for the carrier because that's not what's important. These are the lyrics to the song:

    The road is long
    With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
    Who knows when
    But I'm strong
    Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

    So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
    We'll get there
    For I know
    He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

    If I'm laden at all
    I'm laden with sadness
    That everyone's heart
    Isn't filled with the gladness
    Of love for one another

    It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
    Why not share
    And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

    He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother...

The Daredevil story from my cover features a homeless man who finds an unconscious beaten up Matt Murdock in the snow. Others pass by but he picks him up, even though he doesn't know him from Adam, and takes him to the hospital. Unconditional love.

Btw, it doesn't have to have someone carrying someone, just the context of sacrifice and uncontional love for another living being.

    Hope that helps

I get it now, the Theme is the Song. I really like that song as well, good choice.

Changing my entree. I have used this cover before (because i love it) I think it really think it encompasses the spirit of Raffi's contest.
