Default "Marvel: create your own" platform is a cashgrab

Remember the Marvel: Create your own site that promised to be a new platform for creating comics?
    https://nerdist.com/marvel-create-your-own-comics/

Well, the site is now operational, but there's a catch:

Yes, you need to shell 3 bucks to use each non-starting character.

Dare someone to create a compelling Electra Story with those rules.

Anyone who wants to create comics would be better off using their own characters anyhow. That won't cost them a dime.

Well, suffice to say my already dwindling interest in this has gone down quite a bit .

I got into their "closed beta" and yeah...the character selection is ridiculous. I mean it has some really interesting ideas with it for sure, but some of their rules and design choices are so weird. Plus it's super buggy. When I went to preview what I worked on, my backgrounds weren't even coming through and my text bubbles were all over the place, not where I placed them.

Any reason someone wanting to spend their time doing this couldn't just paste photos of these characters into MS Paint?

This is the kind of thing that you'd see in 2006 as a flash game on the website for a Nickelodeon or Disney show, not something people would spend multiple installments of $3 on.

I can't actually seem to make anything with any character but Spider-Man. When I click on some other character, I can't make it work. I assume there is something I could click to make this work, but whatever it is is not laid out in an intuitive, user-friendly way at all.

Do the prices vary to reflect a character's popularity? If so, I'm sure they'd end up paying me to select Blue Marvel. Might be worth a shot.

That is the most creepy, perverted looking Hulk I've ever seen.

How do you mean? I've been using War Machine with little difficulties.

Daz 3D. platform is free with things to buy made by creators with new models, textures, etc. I bring this up because to anybody who does anything with posers will tell you is that new models are not free and people expect to be paid, especially when it comes to a business. I also say this as somebody who uses Daz and occasionally dives into modelling their own stuff. If you don't want Marvel making money off of this, there is plenty of avenues to go down in case you feel you are being cheated. Otherwise, this was always going to be a business move and I don't know how to help you if you didn't believe some sort of freemium price tag was going to be involved.
