Unknown Comic Books – Action Comics #1000 Exclusive Variant – Tyler Kirkham
Available week of 3/19 for pre-order
Bigger version:
Superman & Lois aren't too bad, but Supergirl... umm...
Makes me wonder even more if we're aren't getting a retooled Death chapter in MOS, the main purpose of which will be to somehow rewrite it as something connected to current events.
Of course, could just as easily not with a variant. What with Lois's hair though it looks like its inspired by that time period yet with Kara's inclusion, so I grow curious nonetheless.

I'm absolutely certain that, regardless of what Bendis' MoS #5 does with "Death of..." flashbacks, a retailer-exclusive variant cover by an artist who isn't involved in MoS (Reis/Shaner/Sook/Maguire/AH!/Fabok) or post-MoS Superman/Action (Reis/Gleason) isn't a place to look for clues.

The texture and color on the above cover of - Lois, Superman and Supergirl - are amazing!
On its own, absolutely not. The idea it might feature in a chapter though, if the covers of each MOS chapter is any indication, is what really got the thought going. That as well is still not proof of anything, but I do think its enough to make one wonder. This variant only expanded on said curiosity.

That Jurgens "through the ages" wraparound:
Curious that there's no Electric Superman or Rebirth/Reborn, and I would have suggested putting the 1939ish triangle S-shirld on the second figure. Still better than his standard ("90s") variant tho.

Nowlan has inked Jurgens over the years, so maybe it "rubbed off" on him.
Overall, very nice piece by Jurgens. If the second, 1940s Superman was supposed to look like the Wayne Boring version, I don't really see it. Other than that, I like it a lot.
Hmmm. I just noticed. Nowlan inked that piece. Explains everything!
The cool thing about the piece is that it's not a slavish aping of other styles, so it's still a Jurgens piece. He just used the iconic action compositions. And of course, he spreads a little love to New 52 by giving it his signature cape flourish exclusively.
