Go listen on the Word Balloon podcast and let’s discuss it here. Its a long one. 2.5 hours.
Thanks for the heads up, was looking forward to listening to this!
2.5 hours ??! Damn. I'll read the discussion here instead of listening to an interview that long.
Notes
-Bendis confirms again he's not rebooting anything and loves the current runs
-Bendis confirms Pat Gleason is drawing Action Comics
-Bendis wasn't aware of a big trunks controversy, he was just offered if the trunks should be on Superman and he said yes
-Bendis will address the trunks in the comics directly in the comics, people in Metropolis will discuss the trunks and their opinion of them
-Bendis refers to Superman as Clark a lot when he talks about him to editors and firends, will focus a lot more when he's not superman
-Clark being a investigative reporter will be a big part of Bendis run, being a reporter is the first thing Clark really chose for himself according to Bendis.
-Lois will be important, Bendis thinks she is the most fearless person in all of comics
-On the marriage: "So many people are worried about the state of their marriage and the state of their family. You should be. What they are attempting to do is so enormous and it is so delicate, and so precious, and there is so much pressure on them coming from so many different directions. You absolutely should be scared for that delicate, beautiful relationship." (thanks rosawater for the full quote)
-We'll get a lot of Perry's point of view and focus on daily planet as a newspaper(also the dying aspect of newspapers)
-Big Plans for Jimmy, Bendis can't say what yet
-Mike Cotton and Brian Cunningham are the editors on his Superman titles
Last 30 minutes of the podcast seem to be about his health scare he had, so I have missed something at the end.

thanks DP, I'd have to drive to Disneyworld to knock that out in one sitting. And I doubt many comic people have a voice for radio lol

Well, that's good.
Cool!-Bendis confirms Pat Gleason is drawing Action Comics
I guess we know who we have to thank for getting the trunks back and leaving behind the Reborn costume .-Bendis wasn't aware of a big trunks controversy, he was just offered if the trunks should be on Superman and he said yes
-Bendis will address the trunks in the comics directly in the comics, people in Metropolis will discuss the trunks and their opinion of them
I really don't need to see the trunks coming back as this thing people in-universe are constantly talking about.
I can see this irking some people but I think Bendis would probably do a better job with Clark then he would "Superman."-Bendis refers to Superman as Clark a lot when he talks about him to editors and firends, will focus a lot more when he's not superman
Probably good for Bendis to lean into what he would feel more at home with, like Clark as an investigative reporter.-Clark being a investigative reporter will be a big part of Bendis run, being a reporter is the first thing Clark really chose for himself according to Bendis.
No arguments there.-Lois will be important, Bendis thinks she is the most fearless person in all of comics
More Planet, more Perry, and more Jimmy? Sounds great!-We'll get a lot of Perry's point of view and focus on daily planet as a newspaper(also the dying aspect of newspapers)
-Big Plans for Jimmy, Bendis can't say what yet
Sounds good.-Mike Cotton and Brian Cunningham are the editors on his Superman titles
I could see him doing an okay Wolverine run but a Deadpool run by Bendis would probably be like Daniel Way's run...so, glad we dodged that bullet.
If anything it might be like the drama he injected into Jessica and Luke's marriage at the beginning of his second volume of Jessica Jones.
So he won't break them up, but there might be some marital difficulties or tension.
Heard that before haven't we? And he can technically not reboot while still throwing a lot of stuff under the bus with the "You thought you knew, but secretly......." crap.
Nice. Love his work.-Bendis confirms Pat Gleason is drawing Action Comics
Gods damn it. You're killing me smalls! Not even on the book yet!-Bendis wasn't aware of a big trunks controversy, he was just offered if the trunks should be on Superman and he said yes
.....okay? Could be good, could be terrible depending on how he handles it. Johns did the same kind of meta commentary with Aquaman, and it was great.....until he ran it into the ground.-Bendis will address the trunks in the comics directly in the comics, people in Metropolis will discuss the trunks and their opinion of them
Likely the best approach for Bendis. I doubt he could handle a full-blown focus on Superman. He doesn't appear to have the imagination for it.-Bendis refers to Superman as Clark a lot when he talks about him to editors and firends, will focus a lot more when he's not superman
This sounds excellent. Clark's job is (should be) a huge part of the Never Ending Battle and it's been underplayed and ignored for far too long.-Clark being a investigative reporter will be a big part of Bendis run, being a reporter is the first thing Clark really chose for himself according to Bendis.
About damn time.-Lois will be important, Bendis thinks she is the most fearless person in all of comics
If its internal drama between Clark and Lois, he can sod off. They are both better than that and have more faith in themselves and each other than that. But the two of them fighting for each other against outside forces? That'd be fine.-On the marriage: "So many people are worried about the state of their marriage and the state of their family. You should be. What they are attempting to do is so enormous and it is so delicate, and so precious, and there is so much pressure on them coming from so many different directions. You absolutely should be scared for that delicate, beautiful relationship." (thanks rosawater for the full quote)
Hell yeah.-We'll get a lot of Perry's point of view and focus on daily planet as a newspaper(also the dying aspect of newspapers)
Also Hell yeah.-Big Plans for Jimmy, Bendis can't say what yet
.....I know the names but can't place what they've done. But! It's not Berganza or Idleson, so welcome! I hope they keep Bendis from his worst excesses. When he's reigned in, he's good. When he's let off the chain and doesn't have any oversight? That's when he starts to suck.-Mike Cotton and Brian Cunningham are the editors on his Superman titles
"We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another, as if we were one single tribe."
~ Black Panther.
Cotton was an assistant editor to Berganza. Cunningham's been a big deal at DC though - basically the editor of the "Justice League" line (i.e. that book, Flash, JLA, Teen Titans, some others), Deathstroke, Detective Comics, Nightwing, and moreover he's pretty much Geoff Johns' right-hand man on stuff like Green Lantern/Aquaman/Doomsday Clock. Hit-or-miss, but he's a Big Deal in terms of the stuff he works with.
Buh-bye
Some tidbits
[QUOTE=DragonPiece;3439431]
Compared to whom exactly, I can name 8 people more fearless (without being a peak human/superhuman) than Lois Lame in a heart beat. One of them being Aunt May.-Lois will be important, Bendis thinks she is the most fearless person in all of comics
THANK YOU LORD, I JUST CAN'T STAND A BOOK WITH A UNCANNY VALLEY SENSE OF OPTIMISM WITH SUPERHERO FAMILIES(minus batman, since he's got a family always off the rails).-On the marriage: "So many people are worried about the state of their marriage and the state of their family. You should be. What they are attempting to do is so enormous and it is so delicate, and so precious, and there is so much pressure on them coming from so many different directions. You absolutely should be scared for that delicate, beautiful relationship." (thanks rosawater for the full quote)
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
--Lord Alfred Tennyson--
-So, Gleason will be drawing Action Comics..
-Ok, the trunks are part of Superman costume..
-Metropolis people talking about the trunks?? hmm.... I can imaginate something like what happened here..
-Ok... Before Superman he was clark.. He should show his abilities as reporter.
-I am not surprised for his opinion of Lois.. Look the last Action Comics chapters..
-More focus in the Planet? Good..
