Default Some help with working out the time periods for Spidey’s college days

Peter Parker in canon attended Empire State University starting in Amazing Spider-Man #31 and he graduated in ASM #185. This time period must have been 4 years of Peter Parker’s life since 4 years is the standard amount of time for a college education.

It was stated multiple times that 2 years passed between when Gwen Stacy died (ASM #121) and when her clone appeared (ASM #143).

This means that ASM #31-121 and ASM #143-185 must collectively account for the other 2 years of Peter’s college days.

What I want help with is working out how much of those 2 years ASM #31-121 takes place across and how much ASM #143-185 takes place across.

In the Marvel universe the rule of thumb is 4 years real time = 1 year for the characters but that doesn’t really add up when applied to Peter’s college days. Mostly because ‘Marvel Time’ wasn’t a thing at the start of the college era and ASM #121-143 just ignored it entirely.

So what do you all think?

How long was ASM #31-121 for the characters?

How long was ASM #143-185 for the characters?

The 4 yr rule of thumb never really worked. Stan described it best with how the Marvel timeline is always moving foward to fit however it needs to fit. I chalk up things like "2 years" as characters rounding way up. If you try to make perfect sense of it you'll just go crazy lol.

Yeah okay but could you maybe take a stab at a ball park figure?

A lot of stories could have happened in quick succession, as the typical issue covers the events of a day at most.

It is a bit weird to imagine Peter knowing Gwen for less time than the reminder of Conway's run, though there's no reason it can't be canon. It's possible to have meaningful experiences in a short amount of time.

We could figure the Gwen Clone saga lasted about two weeks, and Wein's run lasted a few months, with the first ten issues of Wolfman's run showing the consequences.

That would allow about an year and a half for ASM 31-122.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets
