But there it is...here's a character created 50 years ago and is meant to be as mainstream as Iron Man, Capt America, or Batman; but because he's black and so many people are excited for this film especially black americans, those people must somehow be "leftists" or "racists". The meme thinks it's calling out those folks, but it's really showing it's own ignorance. "Those people over there like it, it must be bad somehow!" With a little bit of "Your intolerance of my hatred makes you the real nazi! Ha Ha!"

I think it's more the fair to criticise Black Panther's authoritarian roots as a character, as this meme quite effectively does. When you get right down to it, T'Challa is the unelected ruler of an ethno-state that hoards life-saving technology from the rest of Africa and the world at large. Black Panther is the kind of ruler that the Avengers would typically be trying to overthrow, if not for the inexplicable fact that he's also on the winning team. It just goes to show, making friends in high places is still the best way to protect your despotic regime from international scrutiny.

The Avengers weren't trying to overthrow Thor, Namor after he got his own series, or Iron Man for his war profiteering.

The sad thing is there is so much political content we could be talking about in the BP books but everyone would rather hate on them. It isn't just the Alt-Right seeking to attack BP and silence discussion with slogans and sound bite's. This is fertile ground for divisions of all kinds.

Frankly they probably should have, every single time a 'hero' steps out of line. This whole revolving door morality is exactly the sort of hypocrisy that undermines the Marvel universe as a whole. So when Hydra Cap manages to turn the whole world against superheroes you can understand why, the Avengers look after themselves before anybody else. The fact that T'Challa is still a member, despite his authoritarian style of government, is just another contradiction left unexplained.

There are so few "heroes", real or imagined, without moral ambiguity as part of their story. If a person or character can't grow there is not really any story. And depending on the culture, the morals may be at odds with another cultures. There are plenty of rulers throughout history that as nobility were considered wise and enlightened but if you dig deeper........ It's the same with any political system so I'm not sure what your point is.
Reality is for those who are afraid of science fiction.

There a difference between being isolationist in your own country and being isolationist in a country stolen from someone else and built with stolen people. Context matters.

Actually the movie does make a point of highlighting the pitfalls and problems of isolationism. Don't you think they did that for a reason?

Good grief. I've seen better bait.

To be honest you can imply this pic to most of the fictional nations in Marvel. Where was the Black Bolt version of this when Inhumans came out? SMFH.

Why don't you make a few for comparison. It would be an interesting satirical pastiche. To be honest this isn't bad satire, it is just not very pointed because it is aimed at an easy target.

Off the top of my head there's Namor/Atlantis, Black Bolt + Medusa/Attilan(?), Doom/Latveria and Odin and Family/Asgard. It's easy to twist the in-world motivations of each nation to fit this 'meme'. I wish more free time to work on it.
