Production Design should be a lock for Black Panther.

Saw it a third time this weekend. Love this film so much.

The scene where Killmonger breaks T'Challa and throws him over the cliff is everything a live action Bane/Batman scene should have been. And I still get goosebumps when T'Challa returns. "I never yielded!"

I love that T'Challa is a such a thoroughly decent human being through and through who wants to make the world a better place through technology and diplomacy. The film's conclusion (both the Oakland scene and the UN mid-credits) give me that same feeling I got when Christopher Reeve would fly around the world and then wave at the camera. Such beautiful optimism.

My only gripe was Wakanda opening up to the world. I understand the narrative that they had to serve, but it was too much departure from the source material for my tastes. Beyond that, as close to a perfect cinematic adaptation as a superhero is likely to get.

How so? In virtually every canon, Wakanda has been opened to the outside world. The nature of when and why has changed, mind.

Perhaps, I should give it another listen but my first impressions of the score was that it was fairly generic and bland.

Maybe they mean first live action movie as opposed to animated movie, but even then that would still be a big case of misreporting.

Yea your the first person I've heard say that. But not A lot of tribal music used in movies so iono how it could be generic. Bland sure that's a matter of taste. But yea the scores has gotten as much praise as the soundtrack.

dan12456 Previous movies where shown in state run cultural centers as opposed to a regular movie theater.

Black Panther will be the first movie shown in a permanent commercial movie theater in 35 years.

Black Panther is now the third highest grossing film in North America. It has crossed Titanic!

What amuses me is the drop from previous weekend is just 26%. Its still in top 5.

Lol that and Chadwick Boseman playing R Kelly in the Magic Mirror were the ones that got me laughing the hardest.
