No its not. It is after Civil War. Or else they would have shown his father. I think origin movie in the sense that its the first solo film. They may tackle some of his origins. Perhaps in flashbacks or couple of scenes or dialogue. But its not a film of how he became Black Panther. He already is one.

There will either be flashbacks of his father or T'challa goes to the city of the Dead. The actor who played Tchaka is in this too.

I know there's been indications that we'll either see a flashback to T'Challa as a kid which would feature T'Chaka or he'll encounter T'Chaka in the spirit realm with the panthers on the tree as shown in the trailers.

This white pasty nerd is going to see it asap! I only hope the movie helps spread love not hate (seriously doubt the latter from what I'm hearing).

Our hearts are all the same color.

The Kendrick Lamar/TDE album drops 02/09. The score by Ludwig Goransson will probably drop around that time as well or closer to the film's release.

Yeeeeeah, I very much doubt it's going to be "Kill Whitey" and much, much more about the celebration and potency of Black culture, visibility, and empowerment.

(Now I really wish that Black Panther and MCU Luke Cage would team up already)

This makes me wish we could see genuine team-ups between the movie and Netflix heroes .

I'm still hoping we get a little bit of the TV marvel side in Infinity War. Even just one scene thrown in there with people like the Defenders or the Agents of SHIELD fighting off Thanos army in New York or whatever. I doubt it's going to happen of course... but it would be cool.
