Congorilla and Jesse Quick defeated him in Japan.

    Fair enough, but the name "Vibe" is at least workable. "Apache Chief" isn't.

    Stereotypes, sure, but racist? No. We're not talking about Chop Chop or Ebony here.

    Who says we have to keep the name? The Justice League and Young Justice cartoon versions didn't.

    Being stereotypes is what makes them racist.

    Not all stereotypes are racist, though. In the case of the Super Friends characters, the creators were uninformed, but not necessarily prejudiced towards the ethnicities involved. For me at the time and still today, despite the cliches, I thought they were positive representations (unlike the cringe-worthy Golden Age examples).

    That's why they changed their names for JLU/YJ plus gave them updated powers.

    Samurai---> Wind Dragon
    Apache Chief---> Long Shadow

    El Dorado kept his name, because it's a cool name tied to South American mythology.
    Done with DC. Can't handle the constant whiplash! Time to go on a hiatus!
