They've all managed to survive it or come back from it, though sometimes a bit changed. Kitty gets engaged to a character she's been romantically linked to for ages and acts like Miss Bossy-pants for a while and it's THE END OF THE WORLD.
Those were external changes that are actually a lot easier to revert than a marriage in a comic book. The problem with Kitty is that she's become unlikable (for me it goes back to Bendis) and is now associated with a run where everyone else has become useless to make her to look "good" (funny how a writer's pet character rarely comes off like he intended). Something needs to happen so readers can forget about that.

What about the Siege Perilous? Walking through the portal can grant someone a new chance at life. Have them walk through, getting a new life for both, where they realize they are happier without one another, get a divorce, and then move on.

A continuity gaffe in a Star-Lord issue, where pre-IvX Kitty was back at the school, could actually facilitate this.

I heard that before, hence why I think a Skrull is the best solution. Solves a lot and aliens seem to dig Colossus so the wedding makes sense.

Exactly! I’m far from a big Colossus/Kitty fan. But just because you don’t like a ship doesn’t mean it’s crappy writing.

    She’s not a skrull.

    She couldn't be salvaged pre-Gug.

Put her back in the bullet please.

That's kind of it yes Guggenheims writing isn't great. But it's actually Bendis who did this to her

There's nothing to worry about. Just give it some time and it will sort itself out. Characters don't somehow get worse as they get passed from writer to writer. For example take Beast...

Peter should commit adultery after getting married to save Kitty.

By this logic, let's blame Whedon for not leaving her retired from X-Men business in the first place.

Not at all, Bendis aged her. The only way forward for Kitty Pryde after wards was to inherit Xavier's mantle. Which is why Storm got put out to pasture.

Additionally, Guggenheims Mary Sue Katherine Pryde is just an extension of Bendis version. Aaron's version/Pregnancy scare version can be considered an anomaly and was quickly swept under the rug by Bendis himself
