In GOTG V2, Ego claims to be a Celestial. But he doesn't isn't at all like other Celestials seen, and he himself admits that he doesn't know his true origin. So what do we do with this statement?

I just took that line to mean he was a celestial being and not a member of the Celestials themselves. Basically just another was of saying cosmic being.
