    Default Cover Contest 2/21/2018 - 2/27/2018 Wings!

    Post a cover that features a superhero or villain or sidekick
    with wings performing airborne herorics or mayhem.

    The Rules for those who need them:
    Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
    Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
    Covers must be posted before voting begins.
    Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
    Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to tally votes.
    The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
    It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules don't argue it in the thread - simply don't vote for it.
    More importantly, remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

    The winner gets to start the next contest.

    I didn't read the rules carefully. I'll look for another cover that fits better.

    Ollie, dumb question: it has to be a "superhero, villian or sidekick" ... so it can't be (for example) just a bird flying, right?

    You're right, nx01a!

    When you mentioned it I thought it sounded familiar too so I checked Chad H's handy list and I see I myself was the one who started a "Wings" contest cover theme last year in 2017.

    But it seems this time it's strictly about people with wings (superheroes, villians or sidekicks, as Ollie specified in the OP) ... and not wings as in birds with wings, plane wings, etc.?

    I suspect we might see more than a couple Vulture covers, but I don't know of any better than this Romita gem.

    I like that cover. Yeah. A winged character, human, alien, mutant, etc. is fine. A character viewing a flock of birds or being attacked by birds is cool too.
    I bet there's some great horror covers out there.

    I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
    A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

    Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
    Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
