Survivor was a late 70's Chicago band, this song was a big hit due to it being the theme for Rocky 3.

Not embarrassed for liking this. It actually has almost a watered down Three Dog Night feel? Their energy however takes it to another level

They had a Sat Morning cartoon show that aired right after the Jackson 5 show on ABC ( if my memory isn't playing tricks on me).

Rapped this to some of my students a couple of months ago. They thought it was amazing! To the extreme! Word to your mother!

This is from a movie called "Perfect" starring John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis which was loosely inspired by a Rolling Stone article in the 80's about how gyms were coming the new pick up bars. This was right at the height of the Jane Fonda/workout/Richard Simmons/aerobics craze.

For like 5 minutes in the early 80's Pia Zadora was supposed to be the next big thing, but it didn't quite take off probably the way she wanted. Quickly she became the butt of some "She's famous, but what exactly has she done?" jokes. Best I remember she was the standout in a couple of bad movies, while not being such a great actress herself.

I first saw this on "Friday Night Videos" which was NBC's music video show in the 80's.

Fun fact: A few years earlier, Marvin Gaye had been paranoid about Jermaine Jackson possibly replacing him as the #1 male soul singer at Motown.

I heard a bizarre cover of this in a Chinese Restaurant years ago. It was very heavily accented (recording, not live) and although it sounded familiar, it took me hours to recollect what song it was.

We won't get a 50th anniversary Woodstock concert, but we'll always have Sha Na Na!

They actually had a TV show during the mid-late 70's!
