I'm not sure if people got that this song was satirizing yuppies.
Is Herb Alpert considered uncool?
The Gypsies had no home. The Doors had no bass.
Does our reality determine our fiction or does our fiction determine our reality?
Whenever the question comes up about who some mysterious person is or who is behind something the answer will always be Frank Stallone.
"This isn't a locking the barn doors after the horses ran way situation this is a burn the barn down after the horses ran away situation."
I actually saw Streets of Fire in the theater when it came out. Director Walter Hill ( The Warriors, 48 hrs) called it his "rock n roll fable." It starred Diane Lane ( who actually is in one of my favorite rock movies Ladies and Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains), Michael Pare, and a young William DeFoe. The movie itself wasn't a hit, but the soundtrack was. The best known song is probably "I Can Dream About You" by Dan Hartman. In the movie it's performed by a Temptations-ish group called The Sorells which included Stony Jackson and Robert Townsend. Anyway, this song was written by Jim Steinman who wrote songs for Meatloaf.
Oh! I almost forgot, Lee Ving, the singer from punk rock band Fear is a member of DeFoe's biker gang. He also showed up in Flashdance and a few other movies and TV from this era.

That actually put me in the mood for Flashdance. I'm pretty sure I mentioned in an older post I saw this at the show with my mom...
Q: What did Batman say when Robin fell off the roof?
A: "Fly Robin, fly!"
This was a popular joke when I was a child. The punchline was this song
I'm not embarrassed for liking it, but it is funny that the lyrics are basically just one line.
A bat! That's it! It's an omen.. I'll shall become a bat!
