I continue to regret nothing!
Er...let me say, I don't regret liking the song. This video is crazy. Like it should be a horror movie about Satan or something...

Sounds like you need a hero.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
If not, it's nothing but a heartache.

And hey, speaking of female Rod Stewart sound a-likes
That's because "Total Eclipse" was produced by Jim Steinman, who produced all of Meatloaf's songs.
Most of his songs have that "epic" sound to them, and he's managed to produce quite a few hits. Here are his biggest hits, with their peak positions on the Billboard Top 40, and the year they were hits.
"Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" - Meatloaf - #11 - 1978
"Paradise By The Dashboard Lights" - Meatloaf - #39 - 1979
"Total Eclipse Of The Heart" - Bonnie Tyler - #1 - 1983
"Making Love Out of Nothing At All" - Air Supply - #2 - 1983 (The three weeks this was #2, Bonnie Tyler's hit was #1, giving Steinman the #1 & #2 songs in the US for three weeks).
"Rock Me Tonight" - Billy Squire - #15 - 1984
"Holding Out For A Hero" - Bonnie Tyler - #34 - 1984
"Read 'Em & Weep" - Barry Manilow - #18 - 1986
"I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" - Meatloaf - #1 - 1993
"Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through" - Meatloaf - #32 - 1993
"Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are" - Meatloaf - #38 - 1993
"It's All Coming Back To Me Now" - Céline Dion - #2 - 1996

On one hand I find this a very entertaining film. And it's interesting because I see it as representative of a certain era. On the other hand, it's feels like less an autobiographical film and more almost Bob Fosse writes a love letter to Bob Fosse.

Oh! And speaking of Meat Loaf...
I've loved 30's, 40's and 50's music since I was a kid. I used to listen to the oldies station when I was in high school in the late 90s. Of course, now the oldies station PLAYS music from the late 90's...
This song is in the "musak" rotation at my job. This is the stuff that plays when you call and you get placed on hold or happen to be at the office and are walking down the hall.
by the way that guitar riff is straight mid-80's U2...

Not very progressive, I guess.

Here's a confession to top them all here: I used to watch The Lawrence Welk Show as a teen during the '80s with my grandfather. What old granddad didn't know was why I was watching...
