Default Can We stop using the term Omega Level like it means anything???

Can We stop using the term Omega Level like it means anything???

I mean outside of a My character is better than your character and my character can't lose a fight because he/she is Omega blah blah blah.

It literally means so little even Marvel has stopped using it. Fans still use it. For what though? Even in Xaviers files there were VERY few Omegas and all it meant was upper tier potential. POTENTIAL, which not all characters will ever meet. Not my character can never be defeated because of OMEGA!!!!!

So why do people still think Omega means anything?

Cause it leads to messy threads, and we all live for the mess.

Omega was a designation for mutant powers the potential for which was theoretically limitless. It does mean something, that writers abuse the term and overpower and underpower every Omega or non-Omega character willy nilly is the problem. Pretending the term never really meant anything is letting bad writing off the hook.

I certainly saw the term as an unhelpful thing as it meant too many game breakers who get knocked down just so there can be some stakes which makes these game breakers look stupid and useless. And it makes the term look just as bad.

I think the terms only person is to highlight how much of a douchebag Xavier actually is. He sought out the most powerful mutants or mutants who are good at espionage to sunvert authority/build a high grade military operation. Any d-list mutant who was not worth his time was not recruited or attempted to recruit. And obviously there are some mutants who just accidentally joined the x-Men. I suppose that's why the large school doesn't fit Xavier's real vision

Oh honey, it’s the opposite. Which makes this all the more puzzling because I don’t think I’ve heard anyone refer to her as having omega level anything in ages.

I mean seeing what Iceman, Charles, Jean, Franklin and others are able to pull off, how can we stop?

It doesn't really matter. The omega x men characters don't stand a chance against a Sinister or Exodus alone. Sinister and Genesis had Jean Grey captured and punked out in X Men 95 Annual. Or the time Post broke Iceman's chest in Ice form in X men 50. Storm meant no difference when Stryfe had the X men at his whim or against a weak Apocalypse.
