I'm Sorry But Peggy Carter As Captain America is a silly concept... (Exiles)

...for the very reason that the version of Peggy Carter virtually the entire world knows is British, and one would assume that you have to BE American to be Captain America. And yes I know in the comics she was in some takes American apparently, but that was YEARS ago and I haven't seen any take on her which is isn't a former British SOE Agent. So if anything she should be Captain Britain, not Captain America.

I say this with the greatest of love and respect to the awesomeness who is Haley Atwell and her character of Peggy Carter, and the context with Steve dying makes sense in theory but I just don't see the code name suiting her at all. Just a bug bear of mine since the character first appeared in Marvel Puzzle Quest and is now apparently returning in Exiles.

I have never heard Peggy Carter declare American Citizenship before... but I don't know, it just rubs me the wrong way. They had a chance for an interesting elseworld Captain Britain like we had with Faizia Hussain (who was born in Britain).

It's not a silly concept though, more a strange one. As I said people do generally think of Peggy as British, she's been portrayed as such for a good while now, so her taking on the mantle of an American hero, even in trying circumstances, feels off. That said if the comic she appears in at least references the fact and gives a valid reason why, I'd be a little more understanding.

Indeed. I still remember that storyline where in one of the universes they visit Gambit was the son of Invisible Woman and Namor. And besides it's an Alternate Universe.

Meh. It's just an AU version on an AU-focused book. I could understand people getting mad if it was like a Jane-Thor situation, but the way it is, it's just kinda whiny to get mad at imo.

It strains a bit of incredulity yeah, but on the other hand this is Exiles, where all possibilities and cray concepts are just thrown at the wall because they know this is multiverse theory. So I feel that it's not a big deal.
