There’s more to a team than just the leader. People buy team books for the ensemble

Yes, so there's no reason to put Iceman as leader, when some other popular character headlining the book would have drawn in more readers who would pay for the book.

You can't judge that by the numbers because their solos were in 2014 and times have changed. A better way to compare is how many issues they got before getting cancelled, and all 3 have around the same amount: 11-12.

    Or Deadpool.

I want Anole on his team (though I also doubt he'll get one).
It's time he got to be on a proper team again. But for some reason the only X-kids Marvel writers consistently want to push are Armor, Quire and Eye-boy.

We've been seeing announcements twice a day all week. Maybe we'll hear about the X-Men changes on Wednesday or later next week? i.e. after Iceman #11 is out? And that could include Bobby on a team. I think Gold will probably end at #30 - and we've already heard about a couple of July books (Captain America and Captain Marvel). If so, there will be an X-Men announcement before they run out of things to tell us.

The only books this could get referenced in are X-Men Gold (since it's the only one book addressing the school now) or a new one. I doubt either will happen unless Guggs leaves and/or there's another relaunch of the X-line coming with Fresh Start, so I think it's more of a idea that Sina Grace has to close Bobby's arc than anything else.

Whether it actually comes to pass or not, I think with the right premise--one that's inspired--and some solid creators, that were committed, an Iceman led team book could EASILY slide on into being a credible success. This is true of many a character, IMO, so don't see why he should be any different. Holdin' up his solo sales numbers as proof, is hardly irrefutable, as others have already adequately pointed out.

I don't think he is actually getting a team, nor do I think the New Gold team will last more than an issue/arc.

    Dream team:

    Iceman
    Beast
    Emma Frost
    Rogue
    Northstar
    Dazzler
    Anole
    Pixie
    Rockslide
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

Since when did Bobby Drake prove he's matue enough to lead anybody? It certainly wasn't in his solo series. He acted like a fuckin' baby throughout the entire thing.
