Utter trash people. I've been reading about weird online disinformation campaigns about this movie for months. These dudes are pathetic. The movie's got a ton of girl-power moments and pointed one-liners, but they're all great. One musical cue towards the end was a bit on-the-nose, but that only offended my critical sensibilities because I thought the movie had done a better job of conveying the same sentiment through the plot and an earlier montage.

Well, thank goodness this is an actual review of the movie or the trailer on it's own merits and not a diatribe about his own social opinions.
    Power with Girl is better.

    Let's talk goal posts.

In North America (USA & CAN), it's understood that movie studios and theater chains split the gross profits 50/50. Thus, in order to simply break even, a North American movie has to gross twice its production budget during its initial run in North America.

CAPTAIN MARVEL had a production budget of about $152M (in 2019 USD). So it needs to gross a minimum of $304M domestically to break even and not be considered a financial disappointment.

SHAZAM! had a production budget of only $90M. So it has to clear $180M domestically to break even.

If the positive buzz for SHAZAM! is to be believed then SHAZAM! should easily make at least $180 million.

Captain marvel is projected for 150 domestic as we speak, Captain Marvel is tracking at 350 million Globally as we speak. It might hit them slower than that but Captain Marvel won't be financial disappointment

I might have been modest. This article puts Captain Marvel at 127 currently and could hit 460 million Globally

So my takeaway is that, just by virtue of having the Marvel brand, any Marvel movies are going to have a much higher opening than any DC movies. Because the reactions and reviews I saw for CM were on par with many a DC movie, yet it opens much bigger than most of them (only TDK, TDKR and BVS have done better).

One wonders how well WONDER WOMAN and AQUAMAN would have done if they had a Disney-Marvel release. Not very good for SHAZAM!--just by virtue of being DC it will probably make half as much on its opening weeked--and even 75 million would be a surprise.
