    So a Red Son homage.

    They can both be bad.
This was my opinion of 2017 CBMs as well.

Are we watching the same movies? Because BvS was something I could barely get through. Yeah, the aesthetics are very pretty and the cast is incredibly talented, but it was just one big slog. I'll take any MCU film over that any day of the week.

How was it a slog? There's so much nuance, and storytelling, the movie. It's not just a by the numbers superhero movie, as most of the MCU is. Most would take a basic movie over a more complex story, tho. There's a reason Ragnarok made more money than Logan, and its not because it's the better movie.

I'm a guy who loves analyzing a movie as I watch it, so I find MCU movies boring as hell, because they're almost all surface level stuff. Disney is now doing it to Star Wars. For both TLJ, and Ragnarok, I fell asleep multiple times, the first 2x I watched them.

You should see writer Shawn James's review of Black Panther and claims it put T'Challa in the background while the women were elevated. He even accused the director of being a man from a single mother household who elevate women. So his credibility is strained. And he also has been lambasting the movie for many days before he even saw the film. Here's the links:

As if the MCU hasn't done worst, with far more relevant characters. Odin, Ultron, The Collector, The Grandmaster, Surtur, Laufey, Maliketh, etc.
I am standing on a soapbox against people who say DCEU is more respectful to their characters than MCU. Jimmy Olsen popping in for one scene to get shot in the head because the director thought it would be fun is much worse than any example of MCU characters including the ones you named.

That would be a hard R rating if they did in some cases. It'd be just chunks of meat.

I don't know how many of Shawn's vids you've watched but as he ventures into social issues, he's quite delusional and lacks a shocking amount of self awareness.

Not many but a lot of things he says comes from tons of miserable research and a myopic perspective. He also spoke out against the social justice crowd but true to his lack of self-awareness he doesn't seem to realise he's no different from them.

While I thought Thor 3 was a fun ride, and it was way better that Thor and Thor 2, I would not call it a good movie.

That being said, I would still put it above BvS and SS because those movies are just as bad as Thor 3, but they're so dull and self important that it makes them a chore to enjoy. Yeah, Thor 3 as a movie isn't great and it undercuts a lot of serious points with humor, but if I'm going to have to sit through a bad movie, I'd at least like it to try and get me to enjoy it.
