DeConnick plans on this being nine issues, and it's aiming to be an evergreen seller when it's all collected. Its nature as a stand alone graphic novel may mean it will be more prolific and sell more than any mainstream comics.
The Zeus origin being around elsewhere still sucks, but that's no reason to not embrace the positive of this.
If it’s popular enough it could always become cannon like The Killing Joke did.
Isn't it also being advertised as “the true history of the Amazon’s” to begin with?
~I just keep swimming through these threads~
I think so.
It'd be helpful for the Wonder corner of the world to have a sort of series bible for reference though.
I want and am sure Historia will be gloriously magnificent on its own, but it could really help the main universe Wondie book(s!) develop a sense of history, continuity, narrative consistency, and inspiration.
Here's hoping all 9 books get made and the Amazing Amazon's Era truly begins!
The black and white line work for the #Hera spread from #WWHistoria Volume 1, revealed in #Previews last week.
I’ll try to find the original pencils, which were modified pretty dramatically in inks, but wanted to share here to give a hint of the density of the art and showcase the fashion influences on the costuming. The inks were completed entirely on #Procreateapp. I did add certain color FX as well, to make the colorists’ job a smudge easier. A smidge!
I wonder how many Amazons in this story are "safe".
Because while this story is broadly applicable to WW in general, we know it's going to be its own thing and not beholden to any specific continuity. So of the Amazons we meet, I wonder how many of them are going to survive to present day on the island. Because the premise of the Amazons going to war with the Olympian Gods definitely lends itself to a lot of them getting killed in battle even if the Amazons will be victorious (this early in the saga, most likely they will be).
So even though all of the Amazons confirmed so far were in the Perez run on Themyscira, the only ones I feel 100% confident in making it to the end of this are Philippus and Io, with maybe Euboea as a distant third. I'm sure this story will make us love each of them and not treat them as simple redshirts. Or if the 30 Amazons has some new creations from DeConnick/Jimenez among them maybe that will be a red flag that they aren't gonna last long lol.
I also wonder what the 7th tribe will be based around. Possibly the worship of all the goddesses, of Gaia or maybe even Hermes. Of all the male Gods, I hope they stick with the tradition of him being on good terms with the Amazons
I think it's a guarantee Antiope is probably a walking corpse since it looks Hippolyta rises to being Queen (plus also her dying in the Perez run and movie).
Though it makes wonder if the schism with the Bana would be covered.

Oh yeah Antiope is totally a dead woman walking lol. She might bite it in Book 3.
I used to think we'd get a chapter on the Bana, but the series seems to really be emphasized as Hippolyta's story first and foremost. So I can't see an issue deviating from that to focus on the Bana, though I'm sure there will be set up for them coming into existence "off screen."

I cannot speculate with this particular story, the intrigue and excitement have me clouded. I will read this story with my mind blank to absorb everything the authors want to tell us. It will be a long way until October.
