    "Sometimes a comic just blows you away. [A]we-inspiring work from both writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artist Phil Jimenez. Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons is comic no one should miss."

    What's the concept behind the whole "Black Label"? What is it supposed to entail?

    Currently just standalone evergreen "prestige" stories you can read without much prior or any knowledge of the DC characters and, supposedly, allows writers/artists way more creative freedom than on the main books. Think Dark Night Returns or All-Star Superman.

    Also, BLACK LABEL is meant to appeal to adults, so contain more mature themes and language, and such.

    Jimenez and DeConnick did another interview together where they talk about some of their creative process on the book, I'd recommend listening to this one since they can now freely speak without having to worry about spoilers. Along with some tidbits on the second book with Gene Ha;

    -Sounds the second issue is pretty much done since it sounds DeConnick is in deep with Nicola Scott at this point.
    -This has been brought up elsewhere but the first five pages will be the same as Jimenez's issue but Ha's on take on the Goddesses.
    -A shoutout to Son of Baldwin.
    -Second issue will be way more down to Earth and go a lot into Amazon culture beyond warrior women stuff. Will be the pre-island version of Themyscira.
    -DeConnick's favorite tribe is the seventh one we'll see in this next issue.
    -Not really related but reminded me of some here but Jimenez joked one of his growing peeves in comics are the Gods fighting regular DC characters like Superman or being used as jobbers.
    -Hippolyta was originally going to be part of the 30 original Amazons but she decided to change that midway through production of the first issue
    -Jimenez would also like to a "black and white/director's cut" version of his issue but he's also just planning posting online the evolution of his work on this.
